This week we install our skoolie electrical panel (skoolie distribution panel) for our 12V DC and our 110V AC systems. We have the circuit breakers and the fuse panel (12v fuses) all in one place. Shore power in a skoolie is just as important as an off grid skoolie, and this will help us manage both. We highly recommend this skoolie electrical panel and have it linked below.

Cool Breeze Travels Ah, thanks!! After weeks of having wires laying all over the floor, he’s now nice and tidy. Also, we don’t have a garage, and with all our tools in the bus there’s no room for wires!!

@@TaleOfTwoSmittys gotcha, for the first few months I had to have my bus at a storage facility (because it was still a commercial vehicle) and what was funny about that was when I had done enough to have it registered as a RV or passenger vehicle went down to register it and they didn't even go outside to look at the bus, so in other words I should have taken it to get registered the first day i had it and I wouldn't have had to spend 300 dollars on a storage facility. thought anymore about exchanging shout-outs

You need to uae MC cable in exposed work locations, you didnt use wire clamps going in your box and you should be using gfci or combination afci/gfci breakers.

Wiring looks good and nice clean windows! Two off topic questions for this video, but wondering if you are being strategic about to weight distribution in the bus? Assuming you will be painting the bus, have you decided on a color?

Sensforce thanks! 1. We are trying to be smart about weight distribution but it’s proving difficult because a lot of the living space is over the rear axle. Here’s hoping. 2. Stay tuned to find out 😎

Does it matter which ground you go to on the DC side or just ground the circuit to any spot as long as it’s on that terminal? Thanks

you can use a wire crimp on the two wires, making a pigtail.

they also make a special green grounding wire nut with a thru hole so you don't need to have an extra wire, just a long and short cut ground wires.

NICE build! question Where did get the latch/lock for the entrance door? Im doing a 99 chevy cutaway conversion. I must admit I have added a few bad words to Websters Dictionary...how about you? Thanks Melissa on the Big Island

What power inverter are you using that connects your 12v to your breaker box?

Still working through the details. We have an entire solar system planned using a Victron inverter, but we’re trying to get shore-power-ready first so that we can move in before solar/batteries are done. Looking at a converter in the meantime to turn shore power into 12V DC. Electrical is not my #1 area of expertise, so I’m open to advice!

Is the bus bar grounded? I have mine set up but I only have the grounds connected to the bus bar

Yes, grounded to bus chassis.

Does this have space for knockouts on the sides for all wires? I'm looking to install one of these but in a very tight area - I wouldn't have access to the back, only the sides.

There are numerous knockouts and a lot of space. Whether or not you’ll fit everything through the sides alone will depend on what all you’re installing and in which directions, but I wouldn’t expect a major space problem.

Where did you learn to wire the distribution panel? Do you have any resources? No one really covers this.

The fuse panel is the most confusing to me.. with grounding and everything. Maybe it's just all the wires and connections.

I was hoping to learn how to wire your breaker box. Why did you go with solid romex wire. A bus vibrates like a boat you cant have any floating free wire more then a foot or less or it will fail to cracking but will cause a fire before total failure. Price isnt that much more. Stopped watch halfway through. Not a very informative video

That was my 1st though, solid core wire in a rolling earthquake, I can't imagine that wire will hold up long term. The wire really needs to be stranded and Ferruled where possible.
