Jamie, thanks so much for this tutorial. We have a similar boat graveyard here in Kent at Hoo Marina that I've been to several times trying different exposures, different lenses and then editing in different ways with different software products. However, I've never captured what I believed was possible in any of my final images - until now ! Using your lighting techniques means I've finally created an image that I'm reasonably happy with, not great and not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I can now see a different way of processing that will open up all kinds of new possibilities for me - Thank You !

Thank You, really good tutorial, nice idea about relighting it after the basic initial edit, just be aware, that sometimes the straighten level with horizons, can be not quite right, sometimes shorelines are not exactly 90 degrees from the camera position, and if their are any uprights, thay can give a tilted look to the image, Overall a good teach.

Just curious, if you were doing sky replacement why you had to get rid of the dust spots before?

Finally! I've found someone with the same ideas! (Photography doesn't have to be a mirror image) nice one! Brilliant finish. Oddly enough I was taking the same shot 2 weeks ago and changed the sky, but I'm having trouble preventing the sky from contaminating the boats in certain areas. When I examined the sky layer it hadn't masked out all of the boats correctly on the edges, I corrected what I could using the 'Background Eraser' but it was a bit hit and miss with the Mast structure. I know it's a 'labour of love' but it seems incorrect to have to do this. Do you have a work-around for this?
