If Reece James is fit he's a better right back, Walker doesn't offer much going forwards. James offers (albeit in a different way) close to the attacking output of Trent but with Walkeresque one on one defending ability and athleticism. His only problem is injuries.

@rikachu571 Walker is not meant to offer much going forward that's not his role in our squad, when in possession of the ball he plays on the right of a back 3 essentially playing centre back, you can't compare them , but I'm gonna say walker because James has probably been injured longer than walker has over his whole career and he's only like 23 so that's a hugggge worry

after watching all of liverpools games this season it’s clear that szoboszlai will be regarded as a top 5 midfielder in the league atleast by the end of the season, i’d even go as far as saying he could be top 3 he’s just been flawless. What’s surprised me the most is his defensive work it’s top class

Rory is spot on with the fullbacks, you know you're out of touch and bias when you say defending is not required for a fullback and somehow crosses and passes is put before that. Liverpool suffered in front of the likes of Vinicius Jr, or even Mitoma last season, Trent just can't keep up, and it cost Liverpool.

Everyone's been using Silva's age against him since he came to the league. Never actually see people criticise his game. It's like how no one says Messi's washed just because hes like 36 now because he's still playing unbelievably. It's so unfair on Silva who's still absolute class. Yup. There's a universe out there whereby instead of Liverpool coming second by one point, they won both leagues. That would give Klopp and Guardiola three titles and one Champions League each. In that universe, factor in where both clubs were when the respective managers took over and the wealth at their disposal, Klopp is arguably better. I think Klopp could match Guardiola's achievements at City, but I doubt Guardiola could match Klopp's achievements at Liverpool. However, trophies are currency in football, which means, sadly, in universe, Guardiola probably takes it.

whats the most impressive about alisson is his positioning, so often in the game it looks like he does nothing and makes simple saves but thats not the case as he is always in the right spot. It's the contrary with other keepers where we see them always save a worldie. if alisson make a worldie of a save its always from a world class finish. on the other hand we see de gea, ederson etc makes crazy saves when the shot isn't even side netting with a lot of power into it.

If you watch the Bundesliga youll also know Nkunku and Szobo dont play the same position, which means they have different roles. . Yet if you use football metrics Szobo came out on top statistically last season; a total Sofascore rating of 7.42/OPTA score of 53; Nunku was a 7.23 /51 and Foden a 7.22/52. And Szobo is 3 years younger than Nkunku.

In the last 22-23 season, when Fabinhos and Hendos legs went and LFC leaked goals for fun, while City had Rodri and Gundogan sitting in front of the defensive line and let in the fewest goals in the league, VVD still bested Dias in virtually every meaningful defense metric per 90, often by a significant margin, including; clean sheets, clearances, interceptions, possession won, tackles won, ground duels won, aerial duels won et etc, while also scoring 3 goals and assisting one, compared to Dias who neither scored nor assisted.

Ruben Dias has an easy defending style, he does it so well that it's undetectable. Van Dijk, on the opposite, gets exposed a lot more often, so it's easier to notice his defending highlights. I guess that's why he's been benefiting from the good name on the streets.

Trent: the best when attacking Kyle : The best when defending ( especially man marking) Reece: James is in the middle. He's not better than Trent when going forward (but he's better than Kyle)and he's not better than Walker when it comes to defending(but he's better than Trent). His biggest problem is injuries. TAA is a great player but a bad defender, arguing that by saying "maybe they're not watching the games week in week out" is not doing what you think it is. If you do watch week in week out, you'd realize how much teams target that side of Liverpool's defense, because of his lack of defensive IQ and awareness. Now, they're trying to hide that by building up in a different shape, but they're still getting figured out.

It's crazy that you say all this and don't realize that teams target that area because of the space that Trent leaves by naturally going forward either by moving inside like he does now or by overlapping like he did before. That has nothing to do with his individual defensive capabilities and everything to do with the risk and reward of giving him the primary roles of a playmaker. Also, I don't know where you made up the idea that we're "still getting found out" when we're unbeaten in 16 games since we've moved to the box midfield 😭😭😭 I sure hope we keep getting figured out like this!

As a defender, if he wants to do that, he needs to have enough def awareness and IQ so thay he knows when to vacate, when to cover, when to recover, when to shadow, etc. Very often he's found lacking in that area, mind you he's not the only full back that overlaps or go inside the midfield during build up. And all these are just regarding transition plays by the other team, we haven't even talked about regular defense. He's a great player, possibly great enough to disregard his negatives and build around his traits, but he's not a good defender.

Nkunku > Szoboszlai. Look at the drop off Leipzig had without him and he won Bundesliga player of the year 21/22 and won golden boot last year despite being out for 4 months. Also scored a hat-trick at Etihad.

I do think it's just the pace that VVD has lost, but pace is huge. Before the injury there basically wasn't a forward who could run away from him. What a weapon that is to have in your armoury. Losing that quality has to make you feel a little insecure, but the man's a professional. He's had to just get on with it and try not to feel frustrated or think about what might've been. Surely happens all the time with serious injuries, sadly, but what can you do but just try to be the best you can with what you still have?

If one goes by actual measurable performance metrics then it would have to be Thiago Play, VVD Bench and Dias sell. But Thiago could not play the role that VVD plays for LFC because he does not have the recovery pace. Even having lost a yard VVD is the fastest of the three. So if your team is Tuchel's super defensive Chelsea, you play Thiago, if its Klopps LFC with an insane high line you play VVD.

u can’t rate people by their previous standards, van dijk didn’t get dribbled past and arguably wasn’t at fault for a single goal for 2 seasons straight but now he gets dribbled past maybe 5 times a season at most, i personally can’t think of any off the top of my head. Just because he’s dropped off a bit doesn’t mean he’s bad, he’s still 100% top 5 cb’s in the world, id actually have him top 3. For example people said martinez was better than him last year, martinez got folded multiple times, already this season he jogged last effortlessly against wolves and he got sent back to argentina by gross against brighton.

Ederson has great distribution and great shot stopper but Allison is just better at stopping shots and that's the most important thing at the end of the season.

No way Harriot chose Pep over Klopp! Yeah, he is a great manager. He knows how to deal with big players and has accomplished a lot. But someone tell me, how is it that this greatness fades away when it's Liverpool vs. Man City? Klopp goes head to head with him every single match. In fact, he has won more matches when they both play against each other. Klopp has beaten Pep 12 out of 26 meetings, while Guardiola has won 9 times. No manager in football has beaten Guardiola more often than Jurgen Klopp. So how can you say Pep is better than Klopp? Give Klopp the money Pep gets and see what he does, and do the same for Pep. Give him a team to work on with a restriction of money and see who does better.

Why compare Nkunku, Foden and Szoboszlai when they really haven't played the same positions? Nkunku mostly a 10, Szobo an 8, Foden a winger. Which means they're asked to do very different things, beyond scoring goals or assisting. If you look at what they have provide as a package Szobo comes out on top statistically; aofascore average of 7.42/OPTA score of 53 last season; Nunku was a 7.23 /51 and Foden a 7.22/52. And Szobo is also the youngest, at 22, foden is 23, Nkunku 25.
