Leashfalling can be a scary part of highlining. But when this Task is mastered, it will be huge fun to do it over and over again!

Thanks for your positive words! For the waterline: yes and no. One very important things on waterlines are the ears! There have been a few injuries of the ear drum du to falls onto the side of the head. So I recommend ear protection. Also in waterlines there are no leashes so hard to simulate that. At the same time yes: waterlines are a really awesome training and preparation before highlining! It is clearly less scary and therefore you can train the movements in a really good way before being ready to highline.

Hey Sam! Really love your videos! I was wondering how I have to handle the leash when starting with some sit-mount. As this is the part I take a whipper most often I'd like know that I can take a save leashfall - any ideas of how to manage that? Thanks :-)

Hi there! Have you also watched this one? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rquXncer2LuRo5s.html Just for some more input concerning the leash handling. But to your question: I either have it between my feet or behind my feet. The important part is, that the leash is free hanging from the harness to the leash rings. Not entangled around your knee or anything. And then there is something I often see: People getting scared while standing up and starting to slide off the line. Keep standing on the line while mounting, no matter what!

Sam can you please make a video on how to fall off a longline, front always, because back falls hurt like sh**

Been thinking about such a vid for a while and will probably do it one day. Too many other projects right now though. Always slide down with both feet at the same time. Slide to the front, even if you fall to your back! You can still catch the line with your back if the line is a bit soft. But learn this slide-down on low lines a few times to feel more comfortable on a longline.

@@SlacktivityCh What do you mean with "slide to the front even if you fall to your back"? I'd also be interested in a fall tutorial a lot :)

@@Djumeneik sliding to the front in a way that the feet are sliding towards your toes as you are pointint the feet. This, because sliding towards your heel just doesn't work well. Sliding to the side is also an option though. Important to start trying on a short and low line that has not too much power.

@@SlacktivityCh Thanks for the quick response :) I just don't understand: In my imagination if you fall towards your back but you slide your feet off the line towards your toes how you suggest, wouldn't the line would bite your back or neck? Or do you mean that in last second before falling to back you would turn your feet towards the other side of the line to then slide off towards the toes? If you have time for that I'd be really grateful if you could show me a video with timestamp where you or someone does exactly what you suggest.. so then I can just observe that and try to understand. Thank you anyways for all your great tutorials out there, already learned a bunch from them :)

@@Djumeneik Yep, depending on the height the line will hit your back. But don't forget that the line is soft. Specially on a 15m+ nylon line, catching the line with your back is a much better option than hitting the ground. We mainly do that if we fall in a big surf on a longline.
