** I totally flubbed pronouncing Sulforaphane! **
Everyone should be using these 7 hacks to slash the risk of dementia. Nothing puts a greater toll on a family, and a health-care system, than a relative disabled with dementia, or another neurological decline disease. Even if you have a direct family history of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or other neurological decline disease, you can use these hacks to slash your risk of suffering,
By optimizing the Autophagy taking place in your brain, you can get rid of defective neurons, old mitochondria, and neuro-fibrillary tangles that can build up in your brain. Most of these hacks are free, or very inexpensive. They are all backed up by research, and the common-sense of trying to emulate the life humans have lived for the past 200,000 years.

KenDBerryMD Dr Berry found out I was a diabetic 3 days before my surgery for ovarian cancer. This was back in September 2018. Instead of being in the hospital 3 days was for about 7 days. The cancer mass was about the size of a cantaloupe and ended up rupturing the night before my surgery was scheduled. Then wasn’t released 3 days after because they where trying to figure out why my heart rate was 126 just lying in bed and oxygen would drop below 90 and blood pressure low. After a CT they found blood clots in my lungs. So have been on eliquis, and metformin since. I just finished 9 rounds of chemo. Last round was 2 1/2 weeks ago. When I found out I was diabetic my goal was right then to reverse it and not be on medication. My question is since just finishing chemo should I do the 3 meals a day so my body can build the cells it needs since the chemo destroyed healthy cells besides cancer cells. Then wait to do IF. If so how long the time frame?

Really enjoyed this one. My grandmothers both lived well into their late nineties. Both drank a pot or two of strong coffee a day, walked everywhere, ate bacon and eggs like trencher men, and slept like babies. Sharp as tacks, too, right up until they left us. Thank you for this as well as all your videos.

Yeah, because they were born in a world which wasn’t extremely toxic with man- made pollution and poisons. They had pristine microbiomes and organic food everywhere they looked as they grew up into adults and beyond. America was the only superpower, jobs were plentiful, and no one needed to lock their doors. Quite a different world the last few decades. Approaching 8 Billion population of humans is not making things any better, yet people keep having children without so much as a thought as to whether or not it’s a good idea. 98% of humans are just rock stupid.

Rescue a dog! You get to feel good simply for rescuing, you get to walk every day and you get the feel good chemical oxytocin from all the affection and love! Win, win, win and when you don't feel like walking you will look into those eyes and have to go. This is based on my experience. I now walk at least an hour and a half every day and feel like I did in my twenties.

Couldn't agree more! After my resection, I couldn't seem to get enough sleep. My neurologists and surgeons advised/ordered me to listen to my body, and that "the brain never really gets a real chance to rest, LET IT so you can!" So *anytime anyone* tried to make me feel guilty for sleeping, sometimes 21 or 22 out of 24 hours? As my doctors said..."you *need to be* strict and *rest!* There IS no *more major* surgery or insult to your body than to your brain. Even your heart is easier!" I just remembered *that* ! and rolled over. I had more of a responsibility to myself than anyone else. I got out of bed for the necessities of eating, eliminating and cleansing. If I was tired, the rest could wait. Much like your heart, your brain doesn't get much chance TO rest. An arm, you can take the weight off with a sling. How do you get total brain rest? *Deep* sleep. Only! Dark, quiet room. NO stimulation. None! Not even soothing sounds or smells. Certainly not well meaning visitors of any kind!

Doctor! I have A fib, and have an artificial heart valve. I take Sotalol and Warfarin faithfully everyday. Recently my PCP put me on two different Statins. I am suppose to be on a limited amount of vegetables. And of course the ones I love the most is a big NO! After having surgeries I realized I no longer felt better. I was eating food that just filled me up and I gained lots of weight. I complained but was told that I have to watch the INR. And I surely do this! One day in my raggedy moment I just complained how I couldn’t even eat foods that were good for me and my options were pure junk! So the doctor told me to go back to my original intake and they would just increase my dosage of Warfarin. My question then was, “so this will just eat out my liver a little more.” The doctor did not respond. And this nothing compared to my PCP doctor who comes in waving her flag of doom! And she warning me that I have to take these Statins because I am 70 years old. Going on to tell me about the conference she went to and learning all these new things. What is the problem. Cannabis! So many people are looking for other ways to heal their body other than drugs. Plus Ms Wonderful suggest I take a third medication for my severe back pain because I have Osteoporosis. The warning label said do not sell this as a drug! What? And I took a look at this medication saying take three pills a day! I totally passed out and never new the world existed! I stopped taking it immediately. I researched it and it’s addictive. Don’t flush it with water, and you can’t just get off this medicine without Doctor’s assistances. Sounds like they are just rewriting bad drugs I am so done with these type of doctors. So a word of warning! Ask your pharmacist if the new meds being prescribed for you will or will not interfere with what you take everyday! And read the reactions to the drug you are about to take. On one of my papers there is a warning not to sell the medication as a drug. That told me something is wrong! I am ready for Keto!

I don’t sleep more than eight hours but I can fall asleep very easily. I feel very blessed! Still working on cleaning up diet and working on the exercise. I'm totally going to try that supplement, BroccoMax. I've been keto for 10 months, ketones are high and still, no weight loss! More importantly, my blood sugar was 282 (on Janumet) before keto and it's now about 120 (still on Janumet) or so BUT it should be lower, I think. A1C went from 8.1 to 6.7 but still, blood glucose and A1C is in the diabetic range. Ugh. If my insulin would just go down, I think the weight loss would come so I'm going to give it a shot. I'm not giving up! Once again, thank you, Dr. Berry!! You're the BEST!

I have lost 150 lbs since Aug 2016 doing weight watchers, but started to have long plateaus and still had another 40 ish pounds to lose. I had a friend talk to me regarding low carb/keto and how it helped her adult son lose weight and feel amazing. So I researched keto and If and thought why not give it a try. I have been doing keto since Aug and IF since September. Exercise 3 to 5 days a week, and try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night. I'm so thankful you and Neisha, and all the other doctors out here (Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Eric Berg, 2 Fit Docs, etc.....) trying to get the word out. We truly have been lead astray the last 50 plus years. I'm 47 and hoping the changes I'm making will help me live a much longer, healthful life. Thank you!!

LOVE your videos, and totally committed to fasting and keto for longevity, and been consistent for over a year now. Our problem is SLEEP. At 48, it just seems harder and harder to get a consistent nights sleep. For both my wife and I, laying in bed, looking at the clock until 12 or 1 in the morning is a norm. And legitimate research on getting a great nights sleep would be a HUGE video for this demographic.

IME, keeping your room cool(ish) but your bed(and feet) warm, is key. Room dark, all electrictronics OUT of the room, get rid of your phone long before bedtime, make certain of no tea, coffee or chocolate HOURS before your intended bedtime, skip the internet too. Make some sort of going to bed routine, just as you would with an infant that begins signaling to your body that it's time to start sending out sleep hormones long before you actually do head to bed. And when you go to bed, go to bed. Crawl into bed and intend to sleep, not talk for two or three hours, not think about all the things you should have done, meant to do, intend to do in the morning. Just, decide to let it all go and drift off to sleep. Count sheep backwards, whatever...imagine a black hole. Whatever it takes. Just just sink into sleep.

Ursula Eissner Your heart is beating too fast.. Medications and or anxiety are major reasons. Check out the Seal video on Box Breathing..... practice count of 4 in..hold for 4..exhale for 4 counts and then just stop breathing in or out for count of 4. This will calm you. At night when laying down to sleep attempt to increase counts. This will slow your heart and tell your vagus nerve to tell all the organs it's time to sleep. I practiced so I can do up to 15 counts in box breathing which means about 1 full breath per minute..I only have to do 15 counts box breathing once or twice before I'm fast asleep. It's a thrill to be in such close contact with the vagus nerve and to be able to shut down the flight or fight mechanism. Sweet dreams!

Dementia is often termed type 3 diabetes, as the brain has it's own separate glucose/insulin control. The most important thing is to limit or eliminate all sugar from your diet ASAP, and also lower or lessen your fruit intake & 'white' carbs like wheat/flour products, potatoes, corn & rice. Raise your good fat intake. Low carb, high fat is the first line of defense, than the rest of these helpful hints.

I really appreciate this video. Six months ago, I lost my aunt (mother's sister) to lewybody dementia (the same form that Robin Williams had before he committed suicide.) It was sad to hear all the things she went through at the end. We think that glyphosates had a major part in her problem, but her "healthy eating" (she was a nurse) may have added to it. I've recently (like the past two weeks) started fasting. My first meal of the day is around noon now. I've noticed improvements in my blood pressure already.

Thanks for another great video, Dr. Berry! I think IF and ketogenic/carnivore way of eating really go hand in hand. (sleep, too, actually. My sleep hygiene got extremely better after keto/carnivore.) After being satiated, you don't get hangry. You don't need to eat that frequently to nourish yourself. Fasting becomes just natural without any sense of being deprived. I used to follow Dr. Eric Berg's 7 - 10 cups of salad version of keto, but I just found myself feeling better in every area of my life with more meat-based approach these days. Besides having an avocado and an onion 1 - 3 times a week, I eat at least 1 pound of beef w/ other animal products like butter, heavy cream, coconut oil, or extra virgin olive oil everyday, if not fasting for a full day. Maybe some people will ask if this way of eating is boring, unsustainable, or hard to follow. Well, different cuts of steaks, ground beef, roast beef, bacon, liver, cheese etc.. I enjoy every meal and feel awesome after every meal! People around me think I'm weird because I eat this way w/ OMAD style, but at the same time, I've been exemplifying a healthy life by showing. (They keep asking me what the secret is, btw.)

People probably think I'm weird too, eating OMAD, no fruit/grain/dairy, bring my own distilled water everywhere, Qi Gong every morning, lifting everyday, listen to affirmations in my car, no wi-fi in the house, turn off my cell phone hours before bed. But it all works for me, so who cares? You do what benefits you.

My family will be getting KETO lectures during the Christmas gathering 👍and my 80 year old mother is on her new low carbs journey now! Said it’s the first time the scale said 140,s in 20 years! Thank you, Dr Berry. I'm a newbie to Keto, just a week & a half. I've ordered two of your books. I've lost 5 lbs so far, but everything your teaching makes common sense with science. My Dad's Mom had Alzheimer’s and my Mom passed away from Dementia. On #5 Thermogenics, I love a Hot Bath or shower. Now the Cold is not a possibility for me as I have "Cold Urticaria". I first start turning red and itching, then break out in hives from cold air or water. It's weird after Menopause, I sleep with the AC down to 65, but with covers up to my nose. I do get a quite a bit of exercise due to having lots of acreage , having Horses, Dogs & Cows. I get plenty of sleep 7 to 9 hours a night. I'm Thankful for your video's and I'm passing them on to friends that are more open minded and need this information. "Open minded" is kind of like Politics, some are willing to have a discussion and learn something new and others put up a brick wall. At almost 62, I fear Alzheimer's and Dementia more than I fear getting Cancer. Just the thought of losing your mind and your faculties is way more scary.

I am fairly new at keto (2 months) & IF (3~4 months) but have kept to it. I’ve done 2, 4 day fasts but have now been keeping to essential a 2 hr eating window, ie one meal. My sleep is good, I wake up naturally after 7 hrs sleep consistently. I do need to add more exercise like walking. However I am still dealing with a lot of inflammation from Crohn’s & Reactive Arthritis (which I believe are getting betting since starting keto). Being 42yr old I have been concerned about alzheimer's (mother and grandfather had it). I had also noticed that I had been forgetting a lot things ( a lot more than usual). However since being on keto and doing the longer fasts I have so much more clarity and remember details much better. 45 lbs lost in two months! About 80-90 more to go, yay!

I embraced the keto way of eating 18 months ago. I fast 16 - 20 hours every day. I love to go for a walk before sunrise. I vary my walks to go out and get very hot, I keep my bedroom cold and from time to time, I do an icy foot bath. But I do not do coffee or green tea because ever since I was put on Lisinopril HCTZ, I do not sleep through the night. I'm up every two hours to pee and sometimes, I don't seem to sleep at all. I was transitioned off of meds after I lost 100 pounds. I've been off meds for about three weeks now but still no improvement in sleep. I've added magnesium glycinate, melatonin, GABA, vitamin D, and a multivitamin high in B vitamins but - no change.

I think this is why I am able to do all this gym every day.

After getting many amalgam tooth fillings, I immediately had facial pains that did not go away, and soon there was a massive massive Candida outbreak that lasted for decades, along with severe weakness and tiredness that made it difficult to open the bathroom door in the morning and impossible at times to squeeze the toothpaste out of the toothpaste tube, and it became painful to raise my arms and shampoo my hair, I was having to place my hands on my knees and push back to minimize back pain when in transit to work, and the candida also killed patches of skin inside my mouth in the cheek area, and much much more, and at the same time I had flaking skin cells on my arms and legs such that by the end of every day my socks would be coated with dead skin cells. Then came shingles on the right side of my stomach. Then came Morphea on my stomach on the left side and left shin, then came Scleroderma on my forehead, then came constantly reoccurring pink eye, skin rashes and fungal growth on my moustache. And then came the hypoglycemia. My average glucose level was, 3.0 mmil/l. The doctors did nothing but put me on a 6 meal a day diet. After 8 years of this, my brain had shut down significantly. I no longer knew the names of people that I had worked with for 5 1/2 years, I did not know how to spell my brothers name, my short term memory at times was reduced to zero, physical awareness at times was also reduced to zero, I no longer knew which was my right hand and which was the left, nor which hand held the fork and which hand held the knife, my eyes no longer focused automatically, my pupils could take up to 2 hours to adjust to changes in light intensity, and I now had to type with only one hand since I could no longer coordinate my two hands together. If you put 3 pills in my hand, I could no longer tell you how many were there since the quantity of 2 was the maximum number that I could now still visually recognize, and that is just to name a few, I repeat, that is just to name a few, of the long list of problems. After having my amalgam fillings removed, it took another 8 years to recover and to relearn things, but I never did relearn how to write, other than write my signature. At the dentists office where I had the fillings removed (This dentist did nothing but remove amalgam fillings), his walls were completely covered with letters from his patients, saying things like, "Thank you for giving me my life back.". Almost 100% mentioned their Candida problem, and the rest of the symptoms discussed were mostly autoimmune problems. Other things mentioned were things like always feeling cold and poor blood circulation, which I experienced as well to such an extend that the tip of my nose was now always blue. But out of all of these problems, the dementia cause by the severe hypoglycemia was the worst. I was rapidly fading away into nowhere and no-when.

Hi Dr Berry. After I lost about 13 kg on Keto as a newby I now have a personal trainer to help me build my stamina and muscles, as I now have so much more energy. I do IF and OMAD. I also water fast for up to 7 days a few times a year. My sleep is improving too. I started at 98.6kg went down to 81.1kg. Have gained back 85.1kg since my trainer put me on 3 meals a day on 16:8 as well as 1600 calories. Going to follow my gut on this and go back to OMAD . Personally I have learned to make good choices, my sugars addiction is almost gone and I have woken up to the fact that dairy is not really what my body needs. Carbs too, as for a while I was enticed by lots of keto breads etc on KZfaq. Not what I really needed 🦋 Thank you for the daily motivation and education.
