I’ve been watching the last couple hundred episodes and I’ve actually learned a lot. It’s also really cool seeing NL get better.

I watched him play isaac for years. I see all sorts of mistakes when I watch. When I try to play, holy crap I realize he's so much better than me. Just intuitively knows what to do where I have to think about it every time.

Doing pretty much ANYTHING, whilst commentating it, and under time pressure is always harder. People also forget that NL plays other games, and does the NLSS, and does some vidya stuff, and deals with YTs' shit, and runs a business, and has 2 non-human sons (and some other inconsequential "family" or some such), and does not no-life StS, unlike many of his saltiest commenters

His order is disturbingly horrible for how many hours he has in this game. Some fights it doesn't end up mattering, but it can add up over time to a loss. Thankfully I grew up with my dad being a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan so I have been groomed to endure egg lord's throws.

I was personally horrified by the amount of hemo he used on an enemy that literally cannot fight back....

Of course it would have. He needed to see his win condition and enable it, not bury it under a mountain of nearly useless gimmick cards. Wtf was up with pummel? It was doing 12 damage... does he overvalue it because he doesn't understand that it's only good in str decks?

I don’t think we will ever see that . Also in like 600 hours I’ve only managed to do that twice, so take that with a grain of salt.

He's pretty far from a badass mate. He's as high up as he is through sheer quantity. Even after hundreds of runs he still undervalues defense. It's nice he's not embarrassed by it as much, but he still whispers when praising defensive cards. He still passes on metallicize. These are very telling attributes. He wins some wonruns. That's the extent of his skill. He loses more wonruns than he wins tough runs, that's for damn sure.

Or basic strike. Hilariously that won't kill you anymore.

Recently..? 14 hands I believe is the cut off. It's just a small breed of horse. I wonder if he thinks a Clydesdale is a separate species too.

It can ruin your life without discard or exhaust meta. You can fill your hand with wounds etc...

ProffessorJoe in the second part, he had perfected strikes so it would've made the perfected strikes do less damage. Also its good to keep a balance between blocks and attacks. Sometimes killing an enemy that's doing 30 dmg is better then blocking 5.

Is that 3 perfected strike damage really better than better draws? I agree about killing enemies vs blocking, I just can't ever see how strikes can help in the late game I guess.

@@ProffessorJoe they don't help. NLs fatal flaw (as with most runs) is that he doesn't value draw or fishing. He's learning, with exhume... but if you're gonna play a thick deck like that you NEED draw. That's the other reason he lost. He kept clogging his deck with garbage. Pummel? WTF a 12 damage card that's only OK when it combos with flex, in a 30+ card deck? He needs to stop valuing cards arbitrarily and start evaluating their contribution to his deck. You only get five cards per turn when you play like he does. When you have like seven decent cards in your deck you simply do not flood it with trash. It took him too long to get to his attacks. Like, way too long. Having 6 good attacks in a thirty card deck is the same as having one in a five card deck. The difference is you'll get that one a lot faster and more frequently, and you WON'T draw (for example) four strikes and a defend against donu and deca. = D

Yeah but it does double damage so like double tapping a clash is much better than doing a double tapping a regular strike or w/e

@@twisted1021 but double tap bash or bludgeon or clothesline or immolate or a scaling card like rampage

@@punk54321 if you double tap rampage it only counts as 1 use. It makes a second one and exhausts it.

Because for 1 card draw, you get the option to spend all of your energy on damage

@@Animeeater25 I guess I find it too situational. I like it if I have lots of energy and strength gain but even then 3 other attacks in hand are usually always better than one whirlwind unless the board is filled with enemies. Usually there is always a case to take a card and I guess its just the cc and the example you gave. Maybe I dismiss it too much but I almost never take it.

@@thenightninja13 first .. Usually Always Pick one. X Cost cards are specifically FOR venting off the excess energy. Those turns when he had 10+ energy, for example. Burst, especially alpha burst, is so super important for many, many builds. Defect runs with lightning for example. Just because NL doesn't use them correctly doesn't mean there is no use for them. = D

You don't play X cost decks often, huh? My max used is 114 BTW. = D Well, it's what I spent on the card, it certainly didn't all get played.

chizori44 doesnt remove strikes because they neuter his perfected strikes, which are actually really big attacks. He removed a strike at a shop on the second floor and it ended up leaving Donu alive with 2hp on the third floor.

Jacob Millburn Egg playing pummel BEFORE drawing Flex (on the same turn) killed him. Straight up misplay.

Still all his strikes in first 2 turn of a thick ass deck is really unlucky, I dont think removing strikes would be right for his deck. It is slay the spire, sometimes you just get bad draw and die

@Shemsuh0r no, common usage does not. However a pony is as much a horse as a Clydesdale is. It's a breed mate. Nothing more.
