A wee tip when grooving the door using a skilly, clamp a piece of wood on flush with the bottom of the door and 200mm past the sides. Gives you a wider surface to balance the saw on and stops it cutting too deep when it drops off the end.

Love the videos Scott, I've learned how to plaster watching a few videos and practicing on my own house, maybe some day when you get out of your apartment you will have some plaster to repair or some remodeling work you want done and you can take your time to try it out as well as painting. Its not that bad once you get used to working with it and spread enough of it, it is very messy so protect your finished surfaces.

an old trick we used to use when running the ambulance was to smear icy hot (a type of menthol rub) on your top lip below your nostrils...all you can smell then is the tingly menthol! works great! No longer a medic, but I still use it as a plumber

Yea that's what us vinyl layers get to deal with imagine what it's like when we have to go around the toilet cause they won't take it out. The vinyl on top of vinyl is cause some people are lazy or depending on the age of the house sometimes they would lay over it cause it was asbestos back vinyl.

@@incync6551 Ok. I'm used to Gyprock Aquachek, which can't be tiled on or used in high moisture areas. It's pretty much just used for the rest of the bathroom/laundry. A 6mm fibre-cement sheet called Wallboard is used for tiles/showers.
@incync6551
@incync6551 5 жыл бұрын
We use aqua line in nz for tiled showers, the internal corners have flashings put on them before the plasterboard goes on as a safe guard, its a reinforced, water resistant plaster board. Tied showers are still waterproofed and everything afterwards so there really isnt a problem
@drewmis1
@drewmis1 5 жыл бұрын
@@pessimistlad4965 people do the same here too mate, using a cement based board as a solid substrate. As InCync said though, its all waterproofed before tiles anyway. So you see both those ways.

If you are going to do bathrooms you need to learn to do your own plastering and painting. The trick is doing it to a reasonable standard or the whole job can look shit. (im a painter and have seen some pretty crook builder plaster jobs. If in doubt just put extra mud on and sand it back)
