7:38 I am so grateful for your “chill” personality, that’s going to be my best selling advice to introduce the idea of replicating Mom’s face, as she is fighting stage 4 cancer; So I’ll always have her image near to remember.

@stephaniecarlos195 how is your mum doing? Did u manage to make a cast of her face? I wish I had one of my mom she died when I was 15.

I laughed when you said "not the most flattering image of ourself". That was my first thought after I saw mine as well. But then it is just us. No make-up, no hair do, no cute duck faces, just us. :)

Even if you think it's not that flattering I really love the expression of your face on the cast; everybody's so unique and that's a wonderful thing! Amazing work!

PAPER MACHE MASK... I used: * mirror * cut newspaper * flour with water as glue * bowl of water to soften the paper * TELEVISION * spatula, round-edge * paint brush (1/2 to 1-inch wide) * PVA glue mixed with water: 1:1 ratio (initially mix 5 ml of each; add some more if needed) (pva glue is also known as Elmer's Glue, wood glue, white glue) * paint On front of a mirror, start on forehead, then proceed to which direction you feel necessary. 1) apply glue to paper (optional when paper is gonna be applied directly on SKIN) (it will be easier when you'll take off the mask later) 2) briefly dip paper in water, let it drip a little 3) apply to face repeat the above three steps until the whole face is covered with the desired thickness of the mask. (NOT COVERING THE EYES AND NOSE-HOLES) 4) Let it dry & harden. Don't move for a while. Watch a television program for a minimum of 30minutes. 5) Use a round-edge spatula to slowly pry the edges of the mask. DON'T HURRY. Once taken off, dry it some more. Use scissors to round-off the edges (apply some more paper if you want to thicken it up) 6) Use paint brush to apply pva glue-water mixture on to mask, one surface at a time, let it dry. Then the other surface, let it dry as well. 7) Repeat 6 once or twice... until it got a shiny, plasticky texture. NOTE: RINSE BRUSH UNDER FLOWING WATER, AFTER EVERY TIME FINISHED APPLYING PVA-WATER ON TO MASK.... or you'll be needing a new brush before each pva-water brushing. 8) apply paint to whatever design you like on the mask.

Not sure why everyone saying it's "not safe." I did it just like you said to and it turned out great! Guys with stubble - shave before doing this... Left the mouth hole open though to insert a cast of my teeth I made at a dental office. Creepy factor +10.

Thank you for this! I only wanted one mask so I followed all steps up till the plaster! Then, to speed things up, I applied plaster directly to the mould on the front and back, smoothing over the strips until it looked pretty solid. Worked really well, if a little bit rougher! Thank you :)

Thank you so much miss SlipperySandpaper! I followed your video tutorial and the end result came out quite good on the first attempt.I was careful not cover my nostril openings.I let the bandages dry by sitting in the sun for 10 mins. The bandage negative came of real easy by twitching my face. The Vaseline is essential. The plaster positive took a day to cure.I am using it to prepare for a revision rhinolasty procedure.I'm from South-Africa and played some Rugby(Lock forward position) in high school which broke my nose several times and had to get a corrective sinus operation 20 years ago while at university. The surgeon was a douche(now retired with Parkinsons syndrome) and my nose is really scew and I can hardly breathe through my nose anymore. Now I can show a Ear,Nose & Throat specialist surgeon my 'before' and 'after' nose prior to surgery.I still have to do a second casting and reshape the nose with clay the way I want it to look externally but it's given me immense relief after 20 years of hating my nose and the associated low self-esteem.Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

Awesome demo! I didn't realize you could cast yourself. I'm wondering if you ever tried doing the eyes as the last step and just do the remainder "in braille". Seems like it would be possible, but maybe not worth it.

I used crazy glue and stripped newpaper pieces and applied it directly to my face. The mask mashe is thinner when used with glue. Use sand paper strips to smooth the surface. I tried paint but I chose my own cosmetics instead for a realistic portrait of myself. Self ❤ project.

I'm a professional, and plaster bandages are safe to use on the skin, but a more professional way of getting a cast would be using alginate which it about £8 a kg which is cheap! And then applying plaster bandages over the top to create a shell. Do not ever apply plaster or plaster of Paris straight to the skin as it heats up as it sets and that's when accidents happen!
