Lifelong resident of New Jersey. 62 years actually. This is Point Pleasant, NJ. Another dangerous inlet for those unwary, treating boats as a toy. No joke here, or any inlet.

They need to pool law enforcement resources & start heavily ticketing violators. I understand that the current runs very hard given tides. However you can make headway, slow as that may be, and still maintain minimum wake. The world is full of impatient people however recreational boating can be fun, exciting, memorable. That said it can turn dangerous and deadly at the snap of a finger. Respect the conditions, adjust to the conditions and in the canal respect the NO WAKE ZONE. Signed: USCG Veteran

Thank you for your service! I 100% agree that there's a difference between making safe headway and just downright not caring about safety, i.e., the guy in this video. The canal is certainly a tricky place for law enforcement to patrol. There really isn't a place for them to sit safely. Down at the southern end of the canal is the NJ State police marine HQ; they do have someone stationed down there watching for speeding boats. I've also heard that the state police watch this channel, so they know what's happening.

I'm an avid boater and liveaboard. Brokered for some years. 80% of these people behind the helm should not be there. I have seen so many incidents its crazy. Also first time boaters looking to buy 50+ foot boats without any idea on how to set an anchor

@@jesse75 Duh. You could steer it but, i doubt you can operate any vessel safely. There is a lot more to it. Lets start with you setting an anchor or tying up in a slip

Yes, it was. Not sure why he was going so slow. The lens I had on this day wasn't wide enough for me to get everything in the frame but that bigger boat got pretty close to the back of the Boston whaler just trying to stay in control.

Their was three boats The first was the state police which was in front and going dangerously slow. Then their was the guy in the middle who was behind the police and would not pass them because they were scared that the police would give them a ticket Finally their was the big boat. Who could not go that slow he could go like 4 knots slowest. He could not pass because their were other boats coming on the other side and their was not enough room

Also the ocean yachts marina was really close and need space to turn when he got their so he could not pass them

No wake zones are typically 6 knot speed zones. The marine police should install speed cameras. There's lots of revenue floating around.

Soooo how would towing the JS flood the engine,,, the jet drive and engine are two separate entities as is the cooling system 👨🏼‍🔧😱👨🏼‍🔧

Seadoo’s circulate water through the exhaust during normal operation. When the engine is off water can be forced back up into the engine thus flooding it. Cooling system on seadoos thankfully are closed loop so no worries there.

Where is this now ? Its awfully rough and im confused is it an inlet like haulover in miami ? There's a reason its so rough as a matter of fact every inlet on the east coast of fla is somewhat rough some more than others .. The atlantic ocean shows no mercy for anyone especially stupid newby boaters who think oh how hard could it be i can drive a car .. Well im guessing most of them dont do that very well either !

thanks that explains the color of the water I grew up in new england man that water never warms up even in the summer . I been in florida since 1989 and well new england is a nice place to visit but I couldnt live there again . lol or anywhere even close to it once you get used to sandy beaches blue water and margaritas you just cant go back ..

This is the Point Pleasant Canal in NJ. It’s at the head of the Barnegat Bay and connects the bay/Metedeconk Riverto the Manasquan River, which then leads you to the Manasquan Inlet and out into the Ocean.

People here in the US certainly enjoy their alcohol. Passengers are welcome to consume alcohol but the captain certainly is not. If caught he would be charged with a DUI.
