Excellent lesson, thank-you! I have used the portable Tascam MP-GT1 Guitar Trainer for this specific purpose for years. The ability to slow parts down and loop them makes it: easier to learn parts correctly; saves time; reduces frustration; and makes the process a lot more fun! Great to know Audacity has this tool - thank-you!

I transcribe other people's music I've been doing John Fogerty's music cause he's simple. When I go to tempo change I usually go -50% it's easier to changer the trempo in my score. When I change the tempo it takes a couple of minutes to do the down load

Looks like its changed since this video. I go to change tempo but instead of getting the popup box showing how to select the new speed, I got a box saying disallowed, you must first select some audio . I've been trying to select a portion of the track for some minutes through Select and Region and then trying everything there, but the cursor disappears all the time, so can't make a selection. Btw, I love your Manchester accent. That's where I grew up. :)

Can multiple loops be created in the same file. Say you have an 8 min solo you want to learn. Is it possible to create 4 or 5 loops that contain diff parts of the same solo?

If it ah bin a snake, it would ah bit me. It makes it much easier to hear all the nuances in Michael Buble's "Home" without it being an octave lower sounding drunk. I am 76 and when I was 16, I would learn guitar from Chet Atkins by listening to his 33 1/3 RPM records on an old turntable that had a 16 2/3 RPM selection as well as the 33 1/3 RPM. Half-speed at an octave lower was much easier to take apart.

Hi, I have the newest version of Audacity. I downloaded a drum track on stereo mode but for some reason I cant seem to record my guitar track while the drum track is playing. Every time I try the record button, the needle or parameter line goes to the end of the drum track and leaves me with just the guitar without drums. I can't seem to get the pre-recorded drum at the beginning so I can record the guitar along with it. BTW I looked all over the manual and the internet and all pointed to the "overdub" mode. This didn't do anything either. Same old problem. I hope this was clear. Awaiting your answer. Respectfully...
@MusicRepo
@MusicRepo 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't think I can help, I just haven't experienced this problem....the overdub mode is simply the box you check to hear other tracks while you are recording - which is I guess what you want to do. Also make sure you have ticked record on a new track - under the recording tab in the preferences. It really should be as simple as importing your backing track, then pressing record and Audacity creates a new track and starts recording whatever you are playing ...

@@MusicRepo Thanks for the reply. I think I found the answer. After erasing the stereo track, I recorded it in mono and was able to play along.

Excuse me I wonder ir it's possible to see the notes score of a MIDI file in audacity in place of the graphic of the sound?. I just need to take the guitarrs sound track of a MIDI file and chance it for another diferent guitar or instrument. Is it possible to do all this in audacity? Greetings from Guadalajara México.

I don't think so .... Audacity is an audio editor. Try something like Reaper, which now has a notation view as well as a graphical view

Your enthusiasm for Audacity is commendable, but I didn't find it as simple as you say it is. 'quick and easy' it isn't, at least not for me. eg "Import your backing track" - you don't say how to actually get the backing track onto the computer, so I kind of fell at the first hurdle. I'm not a geek, but equally I'm not computer illiterate. Sounds easy so I guess it's me. I've been looking for something like this for years, but this isn't it. The search goes on.
