Come along today as we go Antique shopping and have a relaxing day at the cottage house. I’m in search of a folding compact table to fit in our little cottage, and I find some treasures along the way. We end our day with a tea party on the new to us antique table.
Slow living isn’t a trend for me it's a lifestyle I have embraced for years, I really learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of every day. I’m a romantic at heart, with a very practical lifestyle approach “ keep it simple”. I grew up on a farm and I think that furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.
We moved six months ago to our cozy cottage, and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what stage of remodeling we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me and I can’t imagine it any other way.

Firstly.... 6.26k. Oh Abby Jo , it's really growing now 🥰 That little table is perfect and beautiful. I'll think about that, for our lounge room. Are those like rock cakes for afternoon tea? I just made some yesterday for my in laws . I used some marmalade instead of fruit peel and added some rosella(QLD hibiscus) jam. They were delicious. I love going to old wares,antique etc shops. Even when I don't buy anything. Thank you for sharing 💜💜💜

Gluten free, another lady asked if they were rock cakes. I have never heard of those before? Always learning ❤️ I would love to go thrifting with you, I bet you have great places where you live.

Just found your channel and am enjoying the filming a lot. I'm so happy that people are starting to return to this way of living instead of having to have everything trendy and from Target, lol. I have loved vintage and antique for over forty years. I hope this type of buying expands more and more. Living this way is what will help our environment instead of worrying about buying the next best thing. Contentment needs to be sought out just like education, it doesn't just happen. There are so many unhappy people searching for happiness in a bag.

@@ForgottenWayFarms I agree to this approach to life and a home. Thirty-eight years ago I became a single mom. At that time, I wanted to prove to myself, and others, that an apartment or house could be nicely furnished using all pre-used items. I'm still living in this way, and am very comfortable, in a pretty setting :-)

Just found your lovely channel. It is interesting to know what things cost. Some of my best finds have been at auctions at ridiculous low prices like an old comfy chair bought for two dollars that no one else wanted. Snuggling up with a good book I imagine how once someone else probably loved to read while sitting in that same chair. I love simple pleasures such as a cup of tea and a piece of cake made from a handed down recipe. I love watching channels such as yours that provoke calm and peace when viewing, especially in these turbulent days.

Now that is how you do a tea! Especially when inviting a child to a lost art!! He will never forget. I also set tea for my daughter. That was over 30 years ago, she talks about it often and now sets tea for her own daughter! Love the video.

It's funny how when I look thru thrift & vintage stores I see many of the things I grew up with. Being the youngest of seven must have been a part of that. Also, knowing that my mother kept useful, working items as part of our home life. Thank you Abby Jo. Blessings 🕊

This was the second of your videos that I watched. I subscribed after the first video, I liked it so much. Your videos evoke such a calm, peaceful feeling. They're super cozy. Your children are adorable. I loved how your son was having afternoon tea with you; so very sweet. And, I love antiques also. It was so nice to browse with you; the ones where I live (in a very small town in northern New York - two hours from Canada) are closed during the winter...especially these days. I've told anyone who will listen that giving up tea time has been a huge detriment to us Americans. We get a little hungry in the afternoon and grab something unhealthy and unsatisfying and wash it down with soda. It would benefit us so much more to return to this beautiful (and healthier) ritual. I love what you're doing! I love how you show the beauty in simplicity. You're not minimalist but pared down. Keep on! Let others know how to simplify. Husband and I will be downsizing in the next couple years as we move to the family farm in another state. I like seeing how you've handled your move. The drop-leaf table is a great example of living within a smaller space. I also like how the items are a mix of different eras. This looks authentic.

How lovely that you found that perfect table! I love antique things as well. I am happy to have a lot of old furniture and other items that I inherited from my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and even my great-great grandparents. I love using these things and it makes me feel connected to them. I hope that they would be happy to know that these things are still being used and enjoyed so many years later. Watched this again today. So thankful our son,then about 6 years old and I did similar things together, for at age 45 he went on to JESUS before us from 32 1/2 years of childhood onset diabetes at age 13.......thank you for the reminder of the sweet times we had when we made the time to slow down and enjoy..... together....Merry Christmas........thinking I saw a Christmas one you did, also....not sure..

We love 3 Mile! Always a great destination for the day! We have my husband's oak drop leaf table and I was lucky to have inherited a few beautiful old things that lived their lives in family homes. Just found your site and had to subscribe. Your lifestyle is what I strive for. We are in northern Vermont (on the border of Canada) and have wanted to live here for years.
