This is Part 3 of the 'Slow Stitch Portrait' April Stitch Along. Today we are going to learn how to contour the face with thread.
Today we are going to use simple thread painting techniques to bring our portrait to life. We will add light and shadow and learn how to translate the details of our portrait from source photo to fabric.

In those videos, I showed you how to manipulate a photo to make it useable as a template; how to create a background with your favourite things; and how to use your photo as a template to create the foundations of the face.
I have chosen to use felt for my portrait, but you can use fabrics, patterns and textures that really say something about you. This is a project that allows you to really have fun and play with anything you like in your stash.
