My husband and I started “wear again” baskets and HOLY COW!!! Game changer!!

We have a super small closet in our tiny bedroom. The room is too small for a dresser, so we have not had a dresser for 10 years. We share a 4 foot closet with a single bar for hanging stuff. It is only 19" deep and the doors would not close if we used plastic, wood or Velvet hangers (only the old wire hangers fit) so we took off the doors and hung curtains instead. Under our hanging clothing, we each have a 3 drawer unit for underwear, pj's, lounge wear, workout gear & sweaters. That's it. So basically we each have a 2 foot space for everything we own (except coats & shoes). This has kept us both very aware of what we own! And we stay very minimal. As for worn clothing, it has to hang in the closet as well. Hubby would prefer a chair, but the bedroom is too small for anything other than our double bed (room is 8' x 9'). We live in a very small home.....

Suggestion Either Place the blanket in the drawer with the knitted clothes so u dont need to move it daily to get a tshirt Or switch the t shirts with the knitting supplies in the closet so all your clothes are in the closet and all your knitting items (clothes & supplies) are in the underbed drawer. Also i know u said u like empty hangers on the end but you can also use them as dividers until u buy something else , use empty hangers to divide you & your husband clothes

When I see an empty hanger mixed into the hanging clothes, I want to lose my mind. You’re normal, it’s definitely everyone else and not us. 😂

What about getting a nice deep woven basket for the corner next to your bed to put the vacuum and blanket in. I don’t think you will see it and it will be easily accessible. Just a thought. Love your content. 🙂

Thanks for the tips! With the reversed hangers in your closet, some people use that as a decluttering method. At the beginning of the year or season, reverse the hangers with clothes as you have them now. Then as you wear something, flip that hanger around. At the end of the year or season, you'll be able to see which items were never worn since hangers are still in the same position = potential donations. Take care, Kris K from CT.

Not sure how much you need your swimsuits on a daily basis, but you could always keep your favorite one or two there and the rest can go into storage with your suitcases since you generally use them more on vacations.

I would 100% just move that rod back a few inches and if they notice when you got to move put it back.

I love the wear it again drawer. And you are right, unused hangers need to be together in the closet. My closet opens in the middle accordion style so my empty hangers are in the middle.

Anyone who does not pull out their hangers and put them somewhere different is a monster. I am married to a monster.

Whether or not the apt. mgmt will move the closet pole further back a couple of inches as it should be for the sliding doors to function, you could temporarily, at least to protet his wider shoulder suits by installing a couple of heavier duty command hooks on the back wall of the closet and hang those few items facing outward/forward, perpendicular to the other hanging clothes, especially if the few suits are only worn occasionally. Personally I prefer to put out-of-season clothing in the vacuum seal bags and store up high on overhead closet shelves between seasonal swapouts; I need easier to reach space for the need-often items. I grew up childhood years and into univ. in distinct 4-season locations but have been in 1-season TX forever [yuck] so only have to add or subtract a sweater those 2 days a year which makes things easier but still miss the four distinct seasons and all the joy it brings.

Can you put your t-shirts on their side so the divider is narrower and the t-shirt is taller due to the depth of your drawer? With the amount of t shirts you have they should still sit as they are compact?

I keep my empty hangers where I would normally hang the item so I know (mentally) where something needs to be re-hung after being laundered and I know (again mentally) what item is missing. My Mom is like you and prefers to remove the empty hangers as items are out of the closet and being laundered - personal preferences between the two of us and it’s ok! 👍🏻

There is a tricky way to fold that blanket so that it looks like a pillow. You could keep it out on top of your bed.

Store your sheets under the mattress :)

Doing an experimwnt this year for my clothes for all the ones in the closet i turned all the hangers so when i wear something and then turn the hanger for when i put it back. Then at the end of the year i know what i didnt wear. Sorry that was long 😆

Empty hangers.. on the stairs to the attic. Every (other)Day i go up with laundry that needs to be Dried. I pause between 2 stairs by adding anything on the stairs to the basket. I either use the hangers to hangdry stuff or i put stuff up that is dry/ironed and take Them down. Empty ones remain upstairs, cause that is were i need empty hangers. Also please put some protection on the Suits, sliding those doors Will leave marks.. Or better ask if the Rod can be moved a bit, you do not want to put stuff so far back IT touches the wall either. I either will wear IT tomorrow or IT Will be washed. So no clean enough spot. I Will put it in the basket or IT goes on the hooks on the door. Also.. wow you have a lot of room for clothes. My husband And i share a 1 meter wide, 2meter50 high,65cm deep closet. (We both have clothing for a week or so, and a set for weddings/funerals or official stuff. We noticed years ago that we mostly used the 5 things that were easiest to reach..so we kept the best/favorite and never looked back).

I take my empty hangers and put them in front of my hbsters clothes and he does the same. (Mostly because he does the washing. He has to go straight to work from the laundromat)
