It's by far the most stylish charge point I've reviewed and has a HUGE range of designs. It's got some unique features for installers and for the customer an app that doesn't REQUIRE you to sign up the app just works! It is sold in both single and 3 phase. It has PEN fault on all models and this EV charger can work with solar and fuse protection once the new CT clamp is released!

What I like about your channel is that you give an honest review of what you like and dislike about each charger. There are too many advertorial type reviews on the internet that pretend to be independent. If someone wants a well designed untethered charger, or one capable of three phase charging, it looks a good buy.

You refer to the Anderson company who make a similar looking charger. Andersons was originally started by the people behind the Simpsons charger but fell out with the investors and left to form their own new company, Simpsons Partners.

Nice review thanks, I'm between this and an Indra Smart Pro, do you know what changes have been made since this was recorded? They do a thethered option now but it ruins the look. Board mods and CT clamp and captive screws did this happen?

Great review I am awaiting November and the arrival of their wireless ct clamps using LoRa to enable solar and load management. Please do a review when you get them this charger could easily take over from Zappi if they get it right. Fingers crossed they do and have the right supply lines set up.

Hi, I've just ordered a tethered model with Wireless Energy Manager - both shipping later in December - so it looks like Simpson have provided the updates you talked about in the (very helpful!) Video. I agree that the tethered is much messier, and I plan to store the cable in a box next to the charger (haven't found it yet...any suggestions?) - will let you know how it goes. Nb it looks like Anderson were acquired by Evios and are back on the market - but for significantly higher cost.

This is definitely in the running for when I finally manage to get a proper charger installed - untethered the only option I’d personally consider because it’s so flexible (can’t charge stuff like the Citroen Ami on a tethered unit!)

My experience of dark coloured plastic is that it tends to embrittle in the sun after a few years, so I opted for a cream coloured EV charger. Another interesting video.

These are not plastic it’s metal so shouldn’t fade I assume looking at them it’s powder coating

I was going to go with tethered as a no brainer, however your review has shown me another side to the argument. My wife hates anything on the outside of our detached house as it spoils the look. For that reason I cannot install Airconditioning units. This good looking charger combined with a Rav4 PHEV needing only 2 hour charging every few days ( I do average 6 miles in a day) is ideal. I would be happy to get the cable out of the car and keep the front of the house looking good. Nice review.

@@NicolasRaimoThe bad points were, having to take 3 parts off before you can get started wasn't ideal especially with the tiny screws. Struggled to get my grips in to tighten up a stuffing gland because of the way it was designed, the template to drill the holes for the back plate didn't line up, and it doesn't come standard with a CT clamp as its an extra. The good points were the build quality was good, it doesn't feel cheap, it looks aesthetically pleasing, and also the commissioning process was very quick and easy.

"I opted for rear entry" of course you did. Nice charger as we aren't aren't American we can understand 24 hour time so that bug shouldn't be there entering 20:30

For my property when the stars align and I can install (accross footpath charging) untethered will be my choice. Tidy, unobtrusive and won't attract the local yobs.

The plugging in seems really awkward unless the charge point was at least shoulder height, very weird way of doing things, are people really that vein about what their charge "looks" like. Nice review though, but not a charger for me.

Plugging in felt easy to me and no awkward at all also remember on my test bed mine is mounted WAY lower than anyone would fit it real world. Also yes people care ALOT about how it will look if its location is on view, imagine you had a lovely country home and the only location for your charger and parking is at the front near your door and its viewable from every angle and also the main road would you want to look at a big ugly box every day or have it fit in and blend with the rest of your home? Some people are house proud some are not and thats fine but there's a HUGE market for a charger like this. PS thanks for nice comment on review!
