Walking and filming Evanston Illinois, a Chicago suburb, in this sunny afternoon of early May, was completely haphazard. I probably couldn’t resist the serene charm of this small town, so I decided to take out my camera and film the city-its residential neighborhoods.
The neighborhoods I walked were verdant, quiet, with a lot of beautiful buildings. The residential buildings, of modern or traditional styles, exhibited multifarious aesthetics. I liked the simple, geometric shapes of the modern houses as much as the decorative traditional ones. Both styles were so delightful!
I passed Unitarian Church of Evanston (just the views of its adjacent plants, no building view), Beth Emet the Free Synagogue and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Saint Mary Catholic Church, was diagonally opposite where my walking route ended. The synagogue and the two churches were striking!
There were many thick-trunked trees along my walking route. They are probably at least 100 years old. Among green-leafed trees, there were trees with purple/brown leaves. I believe they are plane trees. But who can tell me, why in spring, instead of germinating green leaves, they grew leaves of an autumn color?
Hearing the sweet melody while I was walking on Asbury Avenue, northbound, between Crain Street and Wilder Street/Dempster Street, I stopped to hear more. From what bird did that song come?
