I completely lost respect for police during the lockdown, and now I have nothing but contempt for the government. Here in Canada they of course went hog wild and froze people's bank accounts for protesting. If it were up to me the entire government would be hauled off to a gulag in Nunavut, and the police would be fired and jailed. Australian government looks like it needs similar treatment.

Cop saw none of this then made me cancel the tow i already called and made me use the 4x more expenisve police approved tow company. over $3k in fines. when i went to court the judge threw out everything except failure to maintain control. a week after court insurance finishes their investigation and found that the crash was caused by my spindle mount failing and i was deemed not at fault.

Self/community Policing is what worked for centuries before the State became the sole monopoly on Policing authority and use of force. The State can cook the books, and convince the public that the Need for Self protection and community policing is unnecessary. It is far harder for corruption to hide when Power is Distributed more evenly among the public.

Basically the same thing here in Czech Republic. Our police tried to snatch my old father from his own home, claiming they are doing a "traffic control", despite his vehicle being already safely parked in his driveway. If me and my mother werent present, Im sure they would have pulled him out of his own front garden and into their car. And what was his crime? He drove an old car, so he was "suspicious". No laws broken, no traffic violations, nothing. We have even requested the footage from their dashcam, and its clear that there were no traffic violations. And now they accuse him of attacking them in his own front garden. They have even turned off their chest cameras or deleted the footage, and now they claim that they have no footage from those cameras. Of course they have produced a file about that event, which is a steaming pile of dogshit, absolutely overfilled with ridiculous lies, and now they want us to pay ridiculous fines. Of course we´ve decided to defend ourselves. Basically Czech police is a criminal mob legalized by the state.

The majority of us have no idea of what we can and can’t do and coppas have had Aussies bluffed and abused their power since the beginning. I believe in a well paid, well looked after police force but they must obey and uphold the law. As you say their accountability should be severe. As a law-abiding, peaceful resident, you instead feel the full force of the law.

Mate, I've lived in Victoria for 2 years. I've had 3 encounters with police during that time just for random checks, and 2 of those encounters involved police threatening to bash my face in for things like walking into a park wearing camouflage pants and standing outside a library wearing a face mask (I was sick and put on one of those blue and white medical masks so I wouldn't spread germs while coughing). Most cops in Victoria are bullies and VicPol are notorious for being the most corrupt police force in Australia. Do you live under a rock? This has been going on for decades.
