What amazes me is almost every time this happens you get quickly surrounded by 5+ officers, for being entirely non-violent and acting within your rights. Yet the departments are supposed to be underfunded? Seems like an issue of priorities.

During a stop and search :-- When stopped, the police should tell you a number of things prior to carrying out the search. If this procedure is not followed, the search is likely to have been unlawful. Officers should explicitly tell you: # The reason they want to search you - a clear explanation of the reasons for the search #What the specific legal basis of the search is #What they expect to find from the search - the object they're looking for #Their name and ID number or warrant card (if they are not in uniform) #The police station they are based at #Where and how you can access a copy of the record of the stop and search

As a kid, I remember looking into the cars through their window. I was always curious what is the top speed on the clock. I wasn't aware that I was committing such serious crimes.

I’m 68 and never been in trouble with the police but after watching their behaviour over the past 2 years I really detest them.

Auditors need to SWARM this station for the next few days and cause as much frustration as possible. There needs to be an immediate psychological penalty imposed on every officer at the station.

A classic example of a punitative search, it was intended as a punishment for non compliance, hence the smiles at the point a uniformed officer arrived. The wort kind of tyranical behaviour as it displays a mindset of corruption.

A few months ago, my crazed, drugged up neighbour threatened to stab me. I phoned the police and shouted, terrified, down the phone that this lunatic was making threats, and he could hear him over the phone shouting obscenities at me. No one came out to attend the incident, and the guy on the phone said, and I quote, “it was probably just bravado” on the part of my neighbour, and not to worry. Two PCSOs came out three weeks later to do a follow up to the incident that wasn’t even attended in the first place. You got five coppers for looking in a car window. And people wonder why I don’t have a single ounce of confidence or respect in the police…

The really sad part about this is that young officer is being taught by tyrants like that!

Wow. Inspectors led the cop straight to an illegal search, and he was quick to ensure he got the cuffs out. Completely unfounded. Its always amazing in Britain that the police is constantly touted as being underfunded but if you go near a police station and act in any manner that they don't like, an entire army of them crawl out of the station within 60 seconds, no laws broken, meanwhile if you called them at 3:30 on a friday afternoon that someone broke into your house, you'd be lucky to see them that side of the weekend

That DCI was a nasty piece of work who changed his tune once he realise you were an auditor and was going to be all over KZfaq. You can imagine what he’d be like with others that weren’t so lucky.

Looking into a car isn't breaking the law, suspicion isn't a crime and you guessed he was an auditor....which isn't a crime. Which would make this a retaliatory detainment and search for auditing.
