I own the Archon Type B, Gen 1. Fantastic pistol!

I bought one a couple weeks ago. Yes, more expensive than a Glock but, In my opinion better in a lot of ways. For the records, former lawman and SWAT guy of 22 years. Participated in four SWAT Olympics (So I understand the requirement for reliability and accuracy) and have owned and am an armorer in several weapons systems to include Sig Sauer, Glock Colt and have shot/owned a ton of handguns over the last 45 years. I took the Archon to the range with 400 various types of rounds/makers/bullet weights. I did not pre oil the gun. I had ZERO malfunctions of any sort. Fast fire at a two-inch target at 15 yards and at first, I thought I was missing my target. Turns out, I had rounds going through the same holes. This gun is as accurate as my Sig P320 AXG Pro and feels better in the hand than any of my numerous Glocks/CZ's/HK/S&W's/ETC, Blah/Blah. Frankly, the fastest and flattest handgun I now possess. Two minor gripes for the records. First, the take down pin got pretty hot after 150 rounds fast fire and lastly, the mag release did suck but, I took her home and lubed her up while working the release and now.....sunshine, unicorn farts and rainbows. This gun should be way more popular and hopefully will be. I've never been a fancy fella to stick all manner of crap on a defense pistol, I am a dinosaur and have used iron sights for my entire life and pretty well at that. The Achon is a lite, very accurate, reliable, flat shooting as anything I have ever laid hands on and I am gonna tote this ARCHON for the foreseeable future,

Really like the way that recoil spring/assembly looks.

Have the original strike one and definitely an accurate fun gun to shoot with low recoil, especially with subsonic ammo.

My Gen 1 is by far my favorite 9mm. I’m not sure why the YT reviewers have been so resistant to showcasing it.

What an interesting action. I had heard that it was NOT like the Beretta 92 or P-38 but had never seen it disassembled.

Slick action and the price, although not cheap, is not that unreasonable...especially when compared to a low axis pistol like the Laugo Alien. Could definitely see getting one if you appreciate fine German engineering.

I have a gen 1 with a couple thousand rounds thru it. Love it. I just got the Arsenal strike two. Same size / intervals as the archon but aesthetics of the Arsenal strike one. I’m sold the Bergman action is better than browning action

It's a interesting handgun. I'll be anxious to see if any German state police or local police purchase it. Many companies who have designed pistols come and go. I like to keep guns that have a pedigree. Ones that have been around for a while. Speaking of handguns with a low bore sight, I always think of the Steyr M series. One thing about YT is that many people ramble on about stuff. I like this channel as it gets the heart of the topic. I don't want to miss an episode. Well done.

Low bore axis battle- try the Laugo Alien too!

Owned a Strike One several years ago. Other than the novelty of not being browning type action and having a slightly lower bore axis, this bit of kit doesn’t really stand out amongst the other quality polymer framed, striker fired pistols.

I’d rather have a PTR-93

One thing that annoys me about "bore axis" comparisons is that most people look at the axis of the barrel, when the axis of the slide's motion is more important for felt recoil. Obviously the two are closely related, and a handgun with a low barrel almost always has a low slide, but it isn't always the case. I think that's what helps CZ pistols feel better despite not actually having that low of a barrel.

Great video on a very interesting design. I enjoy seeing different ways of doing things and this pistol is definitely unique. I'm not going to be adding one of these to my collection.

The Wildebeest pistol has the lowest bore axis. None can beat it.

Not to get political, just an interesting fact. This pistol was designed by Nicola Bandini and Dimitry Streshinskiy of Arsenal Firearms who are still holding patent to the design (US9546831B2 for your interest, can't post links cause KZfaq doesn't like those). Original production model was called Strike-One. The later of the two [Dimitry] being Russian national whose wife owns Arsenal Firearms (actually pretty common practice among upper class Russians to make family members a legal holders of one's assets) instead of ordering production from Arsenal Firearms gives it to new company Archon Firearms based in Czech Republic. I suspect Dima is avoiding legal trouble by registering new company. Notably, there is another Czech company established by Russian Valentin Vlasenko. Company is called Sureshot Armament Group and it's CEO is "Director of civilian firearms RnD" at Kalashnikov Concern. Edit: Made things a bit more clear.

I feel like it is beyond time for something like this to come in and disrupt the market. We have all love the tilt barrel design in a variety of models for years now, but we can surely do better in the year 2024. I have watched the archon pop up and fizzle a couple of times now, here's to hoping this time it gains traction. It needs a ridiculously high round count, an honest to God torture gauntlet and a very public, testing run. That would keep all the fan boys and fudd druids from crapping on it for lack of pedigree.

I am on the fence between this and the Langdon Beretta PX4 G-SD. Could you compare / contract how they two pistols shot in terms of felt and perceived recoil? I ask as the barrel operating systems are similar.

You need a wearable microphone or a better one if you already have one. Your speaking voice is too low and the volume always has to be increased. Then, when the shooting range part of the video is shown, it damn near blows my ear drums. Fix that ASAP. I’m a long time fan and it has been a long time issue. You could just speak up more and more that may mitigate the need to increase the volume so high to hear your presentation
