Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover of Smallville fame spoke to fans at their Wizard World Austin 2019 Reunion Panel. They spoke about their experiences, dealt with technical problems and answered fan questions.
Tom Welling is well known for playing Clark Kent in his pre-Superman days in Smallville, though he has also appeared as Cain on Lucifer and will be appearing in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths. He has also had roles in The Fog, Draft Day and Cheaper By The Dozen.
Michael Rosenbaum is Lex Luthor to many fans, playing the character for seven seasons of Smallville. He has also voiced the Flash in Justice League and other DC projects, plus has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy and was the lead in Impastor. Other works include Urban Legends, Sorority Boys and Poolhall Junkies, to name a few.
John Glover played Lex's father, Lionel Luthor, but has also appeared in Batman and Robin, Shazam and voiced the Riddler in Batman: The Animated Series. His amazing body of work also includes Gremlins 2, Scrooged, The Good Wife and the new series Evil.
Smallville continues to command a huge fan base, having run for 10 seasons and is the reason the Arrowverse shows came into being. Check out these archrivals on screen who are quite different in real life.

I dont know how to say this but. not only because we grew up with tom welling as clark kent but because he really represent superman. The fact that he allways doesn't wanted to put this suit and now, this is like a rebirth. Like something missing in this dark world of today with everything happening everyday and he appear in this series, like superman ! I think that I can talk to everybody by saying that he is the only true superman here and we all hope to see him as principal actor of this series and ... we all hope as we hope this by now 20 years that he will do us the honor to wear THE superman suit !

I wish someone would ask about the fact that so many story lines and characters that weren't supposed to happen till after Clark becomes Superman, got introduced. Like the existence of Lois for example. I would have left the introduction of Lois for the very last episode as sort of an introduction to Clark's new life as Superman.

They gave her too much importance which made Lois seem like second best. The solution to all these story line problems would have been to have ended the show much earlier.

@@Kay2be2mr So, do you feel as strongly about Lex as well? Since like Lois, Lex isn't suppose to meet Clark until Clark becomes Superman. Of course I loved Clark/Lex as best friends and happy with the Lois introduction since we got to see things on Smallville done differently which didn't make a lot of the storylines predictable. Clark and Lex as best friends! that was a first... even if we knew they would end up as enemies.

@@eternallyfate Actually in the original comics they knew each other since they were teens in Smallville. It was only after John Byrne rebooted Superman with man of steel that they were meeting each other as adults. Either way, maybe when he becomes SM, isn't the correct time of reference for me to use, what I originally meant is that the show went on for so long that they couldn't help but bring in so many story lines (Lois was just one example) from when he's supposed to be already on his own living in Metropolis as a reporter. Their main argument for Clark not wearing the suit was that it was a show about Clark and Smallville, not Superman. But yet they tackle pretty much every Superman story line which ruins their argument.

@@Kay2be2mr And in the 1940s, there was a comic book of when Lois and Clark met as teenagers... when it comes to comic books we can pick and choose which one makes our points valid. For most of the comics, we know when Lois and Clark meet and when Lex and Clark meet. There are many comics so of course all the stories will not be the same, just like Smallville! In most comics Clark/Lana are over after high school and that got over extended. I think that Smallville was originally suppose to end at season 5 however I am happy it lasted as longer as it did because we got characters like a Supergirl. We got to see JH as Green Arrow in a series regular role which is pretty much the main reason why Arrowverse exists today. Smallville was based on the comics but it never stated, "we will do everything the 1930s Adventures of Superman comics told us to do." ... that's why we will get many versions of Superman television that differs from the next. When it comes to the suit, I ain't defending that. LOL

If Lex found out about Clark, it would have gone well for a little, but the friendship would have ended due to Lex wanting to use him for his personal ends. As we see from the flashbacks, being the best was already ingrained in him.

If they returned and did a animated Smallvile series and continue where left off, i would watch it. They could put it on CW seed as a series and bring back Glover, Welling, Rosenbaum, Durance, and who would return. They could of had a crossover on Krypton but they cancelled it too early with Tom as Superman in Metropolis.

I would have loved more questions about Tom and Erica working together. They were so awkward talking about that back then, so after 10 years I would imagine there would be less secrecy about it. I guess Tom is still affected? I mean... I wonder how he would really react if anyone asked how it was working with Erica Durance and if there was actual growth in their characters because of their dynamics in the series (the romance may be part of it but doesn't have to be).

@@abdul9617 When actors are hired, they sign non-disclosure agreements where they promise not to leak content or else they will be liable for those leaks. Those leaks will discourage producers from hiring those actors, since they don't want their stories to be told before due time.

@Journeys with MJ Yes. Rosenbaum is honest to a fault and he jokes about it rather than lie about it. Tom is the perfect opposite. He looks quiet, calm, and level-headed but he avoids every issue that makes him uncomfortable. And Tom has ONLY ONE Kryptonite in real life that made him weak in the knees because he was so smitten by her even when he was still married (as Michael joked explicitly). Michael said it was a Guest Star then in this Comicon, he was emphasizing that both Vandervoort and Durance came as "guest stars." Some guys in another comment site thought it was "Alicia" but no... Tom set up Lana to be with Lex and directed the episode where she had to make out with Lex. On the other hand, he directed the episode where he had his first kiss with Erica... RIGHT AFTER the film restrictions for their kissing was lifted. ^_^ Michael keeps joking about "gay" with Tom but that has more into it. He was putting himself in Erica's place ALL THE TIME... so those jokes do make sense... but not from the "gay" perspective. ^_^ He's super smart. ^_^

@Journeys with MJ It did in another Comicon. It's unbelievable... which makes it even a lot more brilliant. Jokes that have to be read between the lines are what makes the person making them brilliant. Unless we want to believe that Rosenbaum is just a kid who "kids" a lot. And he's not.

@Journeys with MJ It's also strange that fans avoid any issues that would tarnish the image of their idols. Actors don't have to be sanitized. They are ordinary human beings like everyone else. And we admire them for their craft, not their personal issues. I don't have to believe in an "innocent" Tom, Erica, or Michael to be a fan of Superman or Smallville. Kristin, for all her good looks is busy "sanitizing" herself as well by keeping distance from Allison Mack whom she recruited into the cult. Her friendship with Allison was almost "lesbian" as was implied in Allison's involvement in a cult that victimizes women. Kristin was never implicated because the law condones people who withdraw voluntarily from criminal activities. Mack was just naive to continue. But if she were NEVER recruited to that cult by Kristin, she would have none of the hell she's having. Kreuk rhymes with "crook" doesn't it?

@Journeys with MJ You defend them as if they are already guilty. Are you that much affected? If personal issues do not count you should not be reacting in their place. If actual evidence is what you're looking for, you have to investigate yourself... then again, saying there's no evidence is like ignoring clues that are already OUT there. You don't expect these people to tell the truth now, do you? But if you're talking about slander and false accusations, even slander can't be filed by a third person... it's the offended party who should make that allegation. But that would be opening pandora's box, wouldn't it? DON'T DEFEND THEM like they're your underlings and you;re their agent. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THEY ARE INNOCENT TO BEGIN WITH. Besides, you weren't born yesterday. man. How can you be so NAIVE as to think that these actors NEVER LIE?
