Smart ForTwo 451 Filthy Engine Bay Cleaned, Degreased & Dust Removed
I bought ANOTHER Smart Car ... this time a 2011 Smart ForTwo Night Orange edition. One of only 235 ever made!
Why? Well because my Smart 450 is getting on in its life and the colour ... well I just fell in love with it.
In this video, I spend 10 minutes cleaning the filthy engine bay, removing dust, grime and oil from inside there. I have no idea how it got so dirty - but its much better for it now

Clean engine aids cooling by removing dirt you aid heat transfer. Whether it's noticed in day to day running is debatable, although a clean car always adds horsepower!

Elbow Grease is great for proper greasy stuff but for what you did just plain Flash floor cleaner is ideal (spray or brushed from a bowl), also you can rinse safely and effectively with a garden pump spray….

Quick tip from me Jon ,once you are happy that the engine bay is clean enough,and you want it to stay that way,and to have some water protection,get yourself a tin of gt85 and with the engine nice and warm and dry spray the whole thing use the best part of the can on it leave it to heat soak and evaporate and there you have a clean but not sticky engine that has a coating of non stick PTFE your welcome.

Smart engine bays are most always dusty, unless they've just been cleaned. Unfortunately the airflow under the air seems to carry grime up into the engine compartment, so keeping them clean requires frequent attention.

Do you rate that "Elbow grease" cleaner? Seems very inexpensive compared to car-specific degreasers.

I didn't want to jet wash stuff all in the interior but I agree on other cars jet wash is the way forward 😄

Fantastic Video 🧡🍊 Best thing to clean an engine with mate. Is of course the degreaser but a Stream cleaner is your best friend! As doesn’t get the engined soaked 😊🧼🫧 So less likely to water damage connections. And a steam cleaner also degreases its self as of the heat 😊
