I recently had the same problem with my hoses. Its called tygon tubing, size 1/8"ø id, 3/16"ø od. It's about $10usd for 25' of it. As for the valves being stiff to operate, loosen the packing nut under the knob , then check it for leaks while it's off and while its operating. I prefer them a bit stiff so they don't pop out my torch when I bump them or something. Ok. Thanks for the video Oh yeah, you can find the tubing at McMaster Carr or Amazon

btw, i have to add, my little tourch was a nock off too, not smith branded from ebay. the knobs had to be removed and it had a hard epoxy mix or paste that dryed and i removed it cleaned the threads and when i put together it was not stoping the flow of gases, i had to layer up a lot of teflon tape to get it to not flow gas, it works like a charm every time...

I bought a copy little torch on eBay from a company here in Australia for 26.40 Australian dollars that's cheaper than from China, and it works perfectly. More than happy with it. I think that they have sorted out a lot of the small problems that customer's had in the past. 😀😀😀

The hoses for the little tourch are soft and the tourch itself requires low psi due to the actual hoses, not for regulating, because we use the knobs on the handle to regulate flow... i started to use an oxy concentrator(oxygen concentrator machine for old people) because getting into silver smithing i ran out of oxygen from small disposable tank...i decided to use a clear hose from homedepot, it says on it do not use for ice maker, its hard tubem flexible, not as easy to hold handle, does not add weight but does make more resistance on handle...wut does wistand the 20 possible psi comming from the oxy con machine...beswides not having color on the hose it works ammaxing....

I noticed your running a red max, I have the same torch, what pressure are you running your regulators at?

August Gough My gas is on 100kpa on the cut range, and oxy is at 200kpa and 2000 Kpa for something that's in the full range.

I looked at your video which was very informative. I believe I bought a fake for $32 from ebay from a supposed AU site. I looked flimsy and probably the fake. Had a copied book and blurry photos on box. I couldn't even get the handle of so didn't want to break it and discover the araldite. Don't believe it is the real McCoy and a tool place which looked at it didn't have fittings to go to the bottles, so bought a twin bottle set with a larger nozzle. Maybe I can buy jewellery tips from places you recommended.

just buy 10 sets of the fake ones off ebay and it'll still be cheaper than the original, even if only one of them gets it right it's way more affordable than the original

I got my fake torch off AliExpress and I have loved every second. It works really well. I’ve used the real one before and there is a difference as well. But for the most part the fake has never led me wrong.

really you saved a small fortune as all you really wanted was the hoses and you destroyed it when striping it down

very true, I am also glad that I have destroyed it. The quality was bad and made me realise the original Smiths torch is worth every penny.

Both Torches are made cheap. i rather make one myself from Brass , Bronze and 4140 Steel, solder the two tube joints and install propper hoses !

the way you are doing thing I wouldn't worry about flash back arrestors because you are going to bow yourself to bits anyway any commercial work shop in Australia not using flashback arrestors is risking a fine of $60,000

pijnto I'm gonna blow myself to bits? ... hahaha ok. I should've died maybe 10,000 times 20 years ago then. Also all the workshops that I've worked at, it should've been blown up by now

I bought a little smith from ebay for$20 after shipping I can give a link if you want it that is $20 usd but I will be honest I am a bit upset that items made in my country end up in China and cheaper to buy from there then here! I buy from banggood as well some things are great but others are not even usable :'( did you know they don't even let you leave reviews without approval or being positive I think you might not know that leaving this video but check it out try to leave neg-review for an item you bought you will not be able to they say for approval and never approve it if it's not positive praising the product kind of like a dictatorship!!!
@2ndchanceinlife

$20 USD is a pretty good price! I didn't know Banggood didn't allow negative feedback to be public. No wonder every feedback was good Thanks for letting me know.

Your welcome here is a listing for some flashback arresters and a link to the one I got on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/122219458676?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT www.ebay.com/itm/Top-Jewelry-Gas-Torch-Welding-Soldering-Little-Torch-Full-w-Hoses-5-tips-USG-/122374657550?hash=item1c7e19160e:g:tZ8AAOSwHMJYJDeb it is actually a little smith not fake, gas dials are a little stiff first few turns but get easy to turn one hand after that yeah been suckered into a few items thinking they where good by banggoods +reviews then get total junk in the mail or totally flawed and after reading reviews of how great quality the item was, tried leaving reviews but nope can't leave them always has to be approved first also left some positive reviews of cores they posted those, looked in forum and yup they don't let people leave neg reviews on items, sad

You get what you pay if you buy rubbish you get rubbish, those things are dangerous the hoses are inferior and don't comply to Australian standards the attempt you made at connecting the hose is also dangerous no point being on a budget if you are dead plus you need flashback arrestors

pijnto 10 years of work in the jewellery industry for 5 different workshops, only one had used the flashback arrestors. Now that I'm a bit paranoid, I think I'm gonna get a couple from BOC. Thanks
