ഞാൻ അക്കാലത്തു ബോബെയിലായിരുന്നു. തലേ ദിവസം യേശുദാസിന്റെ ഒരു ഗാനമേള മാട്ടുംഗയിലെ ഷൺമുഖാനന്ദാ ഹാളിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അതു കഴിഞ്ഞു ഞാൻ train ൽ അന്ധേരിയിലെ എന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് പോയി. Santacruz station കഴിഞ്ഞു air port ന്റെ സമീപത്തുകൂടി Train കടന്നു പോയപ്പോർ ഞാൻ run way യിലെ Light കൾ നോക്കി കണ്ടു (എപ്പോഴും ആ കാഴ്ച ഞാൻ നോക്കി കാണാറുണ്ടായിരുന്നു). പിറ്റെ ദിവസം office ലേക്ക് ആ വഴിയിലൂടെ പോയപ്പോൾ run way ക്ക് സമീപം വലിയ ജനക്കൂട്ടവും ചുറ്റുപാടും കത്തികരിഞ്ഞ പുല്ലും സസ്യ ജാലകവുമെല്ലാം കണ്ടു. കൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന മലയാളികളാരോ പറഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞ രാത്രിയിൽ ഒരു Plane അവിടെ accident ആയി എന്ന്. പിന്നീടാണ് റാണി ചന്ദ്രയും ആ അപകടത്തിൽ മരിച്ചു എന്ന്! Engine തകരാറുള്ള ആദ്യത്തെ Plane നുപകരം ഒരു Caravelli വിമാനം മാണ് രണ്ടാമത് Indian Airlines arrange ചെയ്തത്. അതാണ് അവിടെ കത്തി വീണത്. റാണി ചന്ദ്രയുടെ ജീവിതം കവർന്നെടുക്കാൻ വിധി നിശ്ചയിച്ചുറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നുവോ എന്ന് തോന്നിപോകുന്നു.

എൻ്റെ ഉമ്മച്ചിയുടെ കൂട്ടുകാരിയായിരുന്നു. ഞങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ ഫോർട്ടുകൊച്ചിയിലെ വീട്ടിലാണ് ആദ്യമായി വാടകയ്ക്ക് താമസിച്ചിരുന്നുത്. ഉമ്മിച്ചി ഇപ്പോഴും പറയും പാവം കുട്ടിയായിരുന്നു അവളെന്ന്.

റാണി ചന്ദ്ര ഐ.വി ശശിയുടെ ആദ്യ ചിത്രമായ ഉത്സവം,അയൽക്കാരി, ആലിംഗനം,അഭിനദനം, ഊഞ്ഞാൽ തുടങ്ങി സിനിമകളിൽ അഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിൽ ആലിംഗനം ആണ് എനിക്ക് ഏറ്റവും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത്.ശ്രീദേവിയുമായി ഇതിൽ പലതിലും റാണി അഭിനയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.കൂടാതെ ചെമ്പരത്തി,ബ്രഹ്മചാരി, ലൗ മാരേജ്,ചിരിക്കുടുക്ക,സ്വപ്‌നാടനം തുടങ്ങിയവയും ഇഷ്ടമാണ്.

റാണി ചന്ദ്ര യെ ഞാൻ ആദ്യ മായി കാണുന്നത് 45കൊല്ലം മുൻപ് ത്രിശൂർ മുൻസിപ്പൽ സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിൽ വെച്ചാണ്. അന്ന് അവിടെ ചാക്കോളാ ഗോൾഡ് ട്രോഫി ക്കു വേണ്ടി ബോംബെ ടാറ്റാ സ്പോർട്സ് ക്ലബ്‌ ഉം കേരളത്തിന്റെ ഫാക്ട് ഉം അണിനിരന്നപ്പോൾ പ്രധാന അഥിതി റാണി ചന്ദ്ര ആയിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് ആ നടി വിമാനഅപകടത്തിൽ മരിച്ചെന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ പകച്ചു പോയി. അന്നത്തെ ആ കളിയിൽ കേരളത്തിന്ന് ആദ്യ മായി സന്തോഷ്‌ ട്രോഫി നേടിത്തന്ന മണി ഫാക്ട് ൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ ടാറ്റാ യുടെ ഉശിരൻ പ്രകടനത്തിൽ 3ഗോളുകൾക്കു ഫാക്ട് പരാജയ പെട്ടു.

റാണി ചന്ദ്ര നല്ല ഒരു നർത്തകി ആയിരുന്നു. 1974-ൽ കൊല്ലം മലനട അമ്പലത്തിൽ അവരുടെ dance programme ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സ്റ്റേജിന്റെ അടുത്ത് നിന്നു അവരുടെ dance കാണാൻ സാധിച്ചു. 1976-ൽ air crash ൽ മരണം, ദുഃഖത്തോടെ ഓർക്കുന്നു.

സർ. റാണിചന്ദ്രയുടെ കഥ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് വളരെ വിഷമം തോന്നി. കാരണം ഞാൻ ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത് കണ്ട ഒരു സിനിമ നടിയായിരുന്നു.. റാണിചന്ദ്ര.. കാണാനുണ്ടായ സന്ദർഭം ഇങ്ങനെയായിരുന്നു. അന്ന് ഞാൻ എട്ടാം ക്ലാസ്സിൽ പഠിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന കാലം, ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ പറമ്പിൽ വച്ചു, "നാത്തൂൻ "എന്ന സിനിമ ഷൂട്ട്‌ ചെയയ്തപ്പോൾ നേരിൽ കാണാനും, സംസാരിക്കാനും അവസരം ഉണ്ടായി എനിക്ക്. അന്ന് ആ സിനിമയിലെ നായകൻ വിൻസെന്റ് വേറെ ഒരു നടനുംകൂടി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് ഓർമ്മിക്കുന്നില്ല. പിന്നെ ശ്രീലത യും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു. അവിടെതോട്ടിൽ ചൂണ്ട ഇടുന്ന രംഗവും, റാണി കടവിൽ ഇറങ്ങി കാലും മുഖവും കഴുകുന്ന രംഗവും ഒക്കെ ഷൂട്ടുചെയ്തിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് വിമാനാപകടത്തിൽ മരിച്ചെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു. ആ രംഗം ഇന്നും ഓർക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. സംവിധയകാൻ അന്ന് ഷൂട്ടിങ് സമയത്ത് അതിനെ വിളിച്ചിരുന്നത് റാണി എന്നായിരുന്നു.

ജയന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ ഫിലിം നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ശാപമോക്ഷം ആണ്‌ എന്ന് കണ്ട് .അതിൽ കണ്ട നടിയാണ് റാണിചന്ദ്ര. അപ്പോൾ അവരെ കുറിച്ച് അറിയാൻ താല്പര്യം തോന്നി അവർ മരിച്ചു എന്ന് ഇത് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ആണ്‌ മനസ്സിൽ ആയതു അവരെ കൊന്നത് ആയിരിക്കും

@@girishpillai3181 That's not Ranichandra it's pushpa.she use to be a group dancer in tamil, malayalam movies. Then she become comedy and side roles. In Rani's last tamil movie Bhadrakali Pushpa was the dupe for the left over scenes.

May Rani Chandra & her relatives souls rest in Eternal peace. It was a fateful day for all the passengers in that airline. Rani Chandra was a very nice artist in many ways. She was Miss Kerala, beautiful, talented, shouldered responsibilities of her family......She along with her beloved family members are away from the trials and tribulations of this world and in a better place now. Actor Jeetendra just missed that Indian Airlines flight on Oct 12, 1976 becoz his wife insisted to stay at home due to Karwa Chaut festival. Today Jeetendra is the richest person in entertainment industry in India..

I was studying in my 10th std. . In the morning I came to know about this accident from news paper. The accident happened in the year 1976 of November. I have not seen any films of Rani Chandra but heard a lot about her. In photos she looks beautiful as a simple girl. Shocking she left at an early age.

Decades ago, ( in 1970s, 80s...... ) whenever lady artists were invited for Gulf stage shows, it was with bad intentions ; a trap was awaiting them. Alleppey Ashraf also have mentioned a similar case (charithram enniloode) that happened to an actress who was brought to US, got trapped and finally escaped from a tough gang. Nowadays, we hear about gold smuggling.............
