The spoken command is accompanied often by a hand signal and guided by a treat/food in the hand. These were the first eight tricks or dog commands that Smudge learnt.

Down and Up are also extremely useful in many situations. Down for using in getting your puppy to stay for a prolonged time such as waiting outside a shop or in a busy public area. Up is a great aid for grooming and vet appointments.
