That ICON light is nicer than you think...you can hit the button twice for turbo bright or dim on each setting... and the light on the tip is exactly like a handheld flashlight it is a nice steady round beam... it's actually a excellent light for 40 bucks..

Their battery design is bullshit. They're trying to make you buy another light when the battery goes bad. The Braun has replaceable batteries

@@willc5979The battery on the ICON is removable/replaceable and the manual explains how to do so, but definitely NOT as user friendly as the Braun. 😉

The Astro light is a nice light I've sold many. You have to make sure you tighten the screws in the head area. Nice review..

The icon is a really good light but you have to take out the light bar and turn it 180 then reinstall for it to be set up right, the spot light on the end is very good and the USB c is handy, the Braun has a weak point at the flex joint with no easy fix the batteries are swappable and the magnet is crazy strong, I have the older snap on and it's bulky and the battery doesn't last just not my first grab

I tried to flip the light bar but wasn’t able to. Did you take the actual bulb out and rotate or rotate the entire arm? Thx!

@@tommyaldridge9933 I took the bar and flipped it, the holes weren't perfect but they did fit

@@jwilkers1Just for clarification, did you simply undo the 2 screws which attach the light bar arm to its holder, flip the arm around 180*, and then reinstall the screws? Or did you actually disassemble the COB LED element from the arm and reverse the element? It seems that the former would be a lot easier than the latter, provided the 2 plastic alignment "nubs" in the holder are removed if the screw holes no longer line up correctly. Thanks for any help on this.

The big green snap on I did have I ran over with drives of semi and still worked. What killed it after 2 years dropped it in bucket of antifreeze. Killed it.

i have 4 floodlights 14.4 snap on lights and those are amazing.also have braun and icon between those two i would have to say braun is better hands down than icon.

In my experience, that Braun from HF is lackluster in terms of durability. Had one at the shop and I don’t think it made it passed the 3-4 month mark before the on/off button stopped working and the light would die at random. I would skip that one for those interested.

Yes I bought one it lasted all but 2 months but thing is I never even used it. I charged it and it would die after couple hours

Got the slim snap on light and so far after four months of daily use I have no problems whatsoever with it

@@fike301 still going strong. No slop in the pivot point. It’s a very good light. I just wish the magnets were stronger

Quick (and probably dumb) question about charging the ICON 800 Lumen folding worklight -- the only USB-C wall charger/adapter I own is the one for my Motorola Moto G cellphone, which is rated at 5V 2A. Since the worklight's input rating per the owner's manual is 5V 1A (1000 mA), is it okay to use my 5V 2A charger, or will doing so damage the worklight's circuitry/battery? I don't mind buying a 5V 1A charger if necessary.

wonder if the snap-on and icon are made by the same company. the charging cable is a hint. looks like hf just designed it to look different and to be a bit bigger but had it made by the same factory.

I don't understand the icon strategy.. Trying to compare to snap on. People who like snap on don't even look at other brands. And the rest of us know, that's not a snap on. They should focus on making a name for themselves.

I don't believe it's copied from Snap-On. The ICON is the identical light to the $100 Unilite 925r. The only difference is the color of the power switch and USB cover.

The Icon is a Maxxeon blade light. Maxxeon and Astro are the best

Absolutely! I try to avoid tools with non removable batteries as it is environmentally irresponsible to send an otherwise perfectly good tool to the garbage dump just because the battery died.

I have that small Snap on light.I am a professional Tech and it gets used everyday.Ive had it for between 1-2 years and it stopped working because of a bad connection at the swivel like alot of these lights get.I gave it to my Snap on man expecting it to be fixed or replaced,NOPE!More than a year old!WTF?I paid almost $100 for it.Will be the last light i ever buy from snap on for sure.I took it apart myself and fixed the broken connection and has worked since.I love the light but for that kind of money,it better be forever!I bought a style from Mac that broke at the swivel all the time and I got a new one,no questions asked.Took that one home.I love the snap on but can and will buy 2-3 of the icons instead next time.my 2 cents
