Welcome to Harderwijk, The Netherlands. Where it could be that Tesla opens the World's First Public Tesla V4 Supercharger! 1000V support (?!), longer cables, huge stalls! Example: / 1631069655623139329
I mention the changed cabinets: however, they don't seem changed at all! / 1632715488722665474
I ran into this Tesla team taking a look at their gear, unfortunately there was no time for me to stay when they left. I should go back ;-)

@@electricfelix You we’re not the one protecting their identity with the blurry spots? At first I thought that it was a water spot on the lens, but it followed their faces.

Felix you should watch this weeks InsideEV's podcast, you get mentioned about showing off the new v4 Supercharger including a couple screenshots from your video. (sorry about double comment, just felt this needed it's own rather than edit my other)

Should have gone over and chatted to them but hilarious to see a Polestar 2 parked in there behind the construction fence. Or done some Ninja zooming in like Bjorn does to show the interior. I'm sure they wouldn't have bitten you, then you could report back via a piece to camera in your car if they didn't want to be on camera. :) I had no idea there was that much stuff inside a v4 charger though.

The cabinets look exactly the same as the V3, and I heard that the new charging posts will also be used together with V3 technology. So is it really a V4 or a V3 with new posts? Did you have a chance to look at the labels on the cabinets?

Tesla calls them V4, so it has to be a step change. V4 has better liquid cooling by using immersion cooling in the cables. The stalls no longer have the open space in them like previous versions, as it houses additional cooling components and compartments. It will provide higher speeds than V3, on top of having longer cables. In the coming months, Tesla will deploy V4 Supercharger stations and 72 kW urban Superchargers, while ramping down V3 Supercharger deployments. That’s what they did with V2. They will do the same with the next version of Superchargers.

@@waynelewis9110 Tesla also announced that they will use the new charging posts together with V3 cabinets. Which means that all parameters like maximum charging power, voltage range, current etc. will be the same as for V3, even though the charging posts look different. Real V4 superchargers will be something else, though: Not only do they have these new posts with longer cables and different cooling, but they have different cabinets with more power, higher voltage, and higher current. So, it would have been interesting to see the labels on the cabinets, in order to be able to see whether they are "real" V4 superchargers or V3 superchargers with different posts.

you are correct, this is not V4. Its redesigned V3 with longer cables for all BEVs to charge easier.

real V4 is for trucks, 1MW+ of power. New cables unveiled on Tesla Semi event recently.

@@stefyyy1994 Wrong. Tesla said on investor day that V4 will be launched in Europe starting very soon, and there will be no Tesla Semis in Europe for quite some time.

Don't think this is a v4. Looks like v3.x. Specs are identical to v3 but it has longer cable for non-Teslas. v4 is supposed to have 350kWh power output.

V4 looks lot more expensive than V3.

This is likely because V4 will have to dynamically adjust power output so that it can support: S3XY, CT, and 2/Tau

Sorry, but I don’t get the point. If the whole V4 is about 1000V (which I still doubt) and the Cybertruck is the next/first Tesla car with that voltage level, why is Tesla starting to install them in Europe? Only to be nice to the KIA/Hyundai drivers? I mean, maybe we will se a hand full of CTs on US roads this year, but we still don’t know if Tesla will ever try to bring that humongous thing to Europe, where it will sell it by the hundreds at most.

I think the point is that Europe has more need for CCS chargers at the moment and thus more need for the longer cables.

If it's really about 1000V, then where would it be more likely for that feature to get used? In Europe, where t he charger will be open with no adapter needed for all existing 1000V cars, or in the US, where Tesla dominates the EV market and the Cybertruck in months away from being delivered?

Tesla NACS connector designed by engineers to encourage EV adoption. CCS designed by the ICE manufactories marketing department to discourage EV adoption, hoping EVs would never catch on.

NACS is so much better not even Tesla ever used it here in Europe. 🥳 NACS makes sense in the US, but Tesla never really tried to make it a standard, and nobody wants to pay fees and not have an influence on the way a “standard” develops.
