I'm reading Gilda Radner's Biography right now. It's heartbreaking but an important read about making the most of every day and connecting with people - the value of being open and talking about what's going on in your life.

The Shangri-Las reference in this skit/song was not lost on me when I first saw it live on Saturday night in the 70s!! The idiosyncratic records of the NYC based teen drama group seem taylor made for parody. Rest in peace, Mary Weiss of the Shangri-Las!!

hi where can you watch this special? i've been looking for several streaming sites but i can't find it.

This was such a weird moment in the second season. I never quite got why they pushed Chevy so hard after everyone else found their feet. Even Belushi noted it "jokingly" in a sketch when he missed an episode, just so weird. It was right before Chevy Chase left the show, too.

Good-looking guy and funny. He broke out from the pack right away and had a huge following. Belushi and other cast members were jealous.

They also inspired Amy, Sally, and Mina in my friend's Sonic fanon. If you liked '70s SNL and/or Space Ghost Coast to Coast, you should definitely check it out.

I can’t find it either, my best guess it that the original video recording probably doesn’t exist anymore or at least isn’t in public circulation.

@roomika47536 жыл бұрын
I don't see what's so funny about this song it's actually cute (I don't get why the audience laughs after "He walked into a wall and there was nothing I could do about it." Is it because Gilda acts like Chevy died in a car crash?)
@fonso10305 жыл бұрын
Roo Mika Hi, it’s because Chevy Chase would play a klutz when doing certain skits like president Gerald Ford. He would fall down, walk into furniture, trip over carpets, etc. That’s why they love when he falls down and wish he was falling for them.
@fonso10305 жыл бұрын
Roo Mika also, what you said about the car crash, that part of the song was probably inspired by songs like “Leader of the Pack”, where the girl does sing about the boy dying after a large crash Is heard. This song is clever and great for so many reasons.
@unwelldanny71085 жыл бұрын
@@fonso1030 there wasn't any crash. It was just Laraine/Mina screaming as the guy hits the piano and a snare tap.
@unwelldanny71085 жыл бұрын
@@fonso1030 Yet Sonic isn't a klutz; however Sally may be referring to him losing when she sings "Every time you take that fall" in my version.
