Snow Camping Takes A Turn For The Worst: Offroad Recovery Stuck Deep In the Woods

This week the Sierra mountains were slammed with snow fall by a massive storm, dumping in some areas, close to an incredible 12 ft of snow. This trip my plan was to go snow camping and explore the aftermath of this behemoth storm. Everything was going great until half way into the trip I discovered I was not prepared with the few essential items I needed to stay overnight, the stress on me grew and then we got stuck. Spending hours of our time in the snow digging out and recovering our vehicles this storm definitely kicked spanked our butts. This video is partly our experiences, what we learned on this trip, and what we could have possibly done different to avoid getting stuck. As for your beadlock rims, instead of relocating the valves, see if 90° valve stems would work. I put them on my Yamaha to help with the same kind of issue.

@@JeepinDownUnderhaha yeah we were pretty wore out at the end haha . when you come out here will definitely do some snow wheeling for sure. 🤘🏻 The only problem with the 90 degree valve stems is I would need to have them with sensors for the Jk, but other than that I’ll definitely look into it for the tj. I Need find a set of jk axles for the tj too😅

At this rate, it’d be cheaper to just buy a JK and take the axles out of it. 😂

Nice video Dustin, reminds of a trip getting stuck in the snow up in Truckee way back. My heavy JK with 35's can easily get high centered in deep snow. Beautiful area!

Haha yep I’m just under 200 lbs up top tent, rack and awning. even with my light weight tent I’m still pretty top heavy I feel. Definitely a bit heavy on the pedal caused the high center too 😅 lol. I could feel the Mt 33s digging and myself sinking in. thanks for watching Mike 🍻
