Here in the PNW, it's not too common to get snow and ice. It's usually just wet and dreary. This last weekend it got really cold and we also got a small amount of snow! I was not quite prepared for a full snow-play-day, but I did take a few of my cars out to see how they did.
2 of the 3Dsets 3d printed RCs- Model 5 the Land Rover, and Model 15 the Chevy G20 4wd van. The Landy has the Brushless & Belt drive with open diffs, the Van has a Brushed 540 with Geared gearbox, and locked diffs. Both feature my own install of LED light system, with working turn signals and Brake/Reverse lights that use the PWM signal to the ESC/Servo and an Arduino to drive the LEDs.
The WPL D12 is out of the box ready to run, a RWD mini truck with a locked diff and included headlight LEDs. Great for drifting, which also means the tires are not great at much else, as they are a strip of semi-hard rubber around the wheel.
Traxxas E-Maxx 3906! I got this one recently, non functional. The shift servo was seized, and the radio and ESC were fried. I installed a QuicRun880 which is meant for dual motor and 14.4 volts, but the E-maxx's motors are just a little too powerful for it and I only get a few seconds of fun out of it before it shuts down for thermal overload. sigh so I will need to find an EVX or EVX2 for it at some point. or just upgrade to brushless.
What kind of RC videos do you like to see? more informative? More action? More scenic backdrops? Track racing? Tear-downs, repairs and upgrades? 3D printed car builds? LED additions and programming? let me know!
