Today brought a foot of snow to the farm. Working through a snowstorm on the farm can be challenging, but the animals still need to eat, and we need to be out in the weather to care for them. We feed the animals and clear away the snow with our Farmall Super A tractor.

Watching this makes me glad I bought a Yanmar tractor with front end PTO and a snowblower. My road here in Montana is one mile long and drops (or climbs) 1000 feet in that mile Can't imagine doing that with two wheel drive and no chains. I'd be stuck till mid May. Glad your land is flat and you have push help. Best from Whiskey Gulch Ranch, Montana

I really appreciate and enjoy watching your youtube channel. I live in upstate New York and have been involved with agriculture for my whole life and as a agg tech for the past 35 years. And on my brother’s farm for all my life. I just lost my brother last week ( who also enjoyed watching your channel) so watching your channel has even more special meaning now. Thanks for what you do

Double ring chains on my tractors in the winter, it is the only way to navigate the deep snows of upstate New York winters. I skid saw logs, and firewood when the snow blankets the ground a clean slippery surface, without the aid of tire chains it would be impossible. Your videos are both informative and well done, keep up the great work!

I kinda miss snow like this, I live in the UK and where I am we rarely get winters that I knew as a child. It's mostly mild and rainy now. I do work outside in it too, so maybe I'll change my mind when I have to trudge through snow in winter should it come back!

Not sure it would work with the type of snow you get but we use a coarse turkey/chicken grit when we have problems getting traction in the snow. We also use it on slippery sidewalks and walkways as it will not ruin any concrete we might have.

I see you have a 504 in your barn. I love those. I used to work at a state hospital and we had a number of Internationals from the 60's and 70's in use. The 504 was one of our main workhorses, as it was used as our primary front end loader. We also had a 444, 460, 706, and a Cub. They were all well-used and indispensable pieces of equipment.

I Made a V-snow plow blade for the loader so i could split the middle of the driveway, then turn around and push the sides off much easier and i made a straight plow blade to fit on the 3 point hitch to dress up the edges and push up piles. You might think about getting some snow chains or maybe half tracks for plowing snow and cleaning manure and mud up easily. The little tractor that looked like a case would do better with snow if it had a small counterweight on the back. Maybe a half of a 55 gallon barrel worth of cement or rocks in it.

A lot more snow that Super A made its way through than what I figured it would. After about 4 inches of snow my lawn tractor with snow blower is spinning its wheels...rear suitcase weights and tire chains and it does great, but I have to run it when there's maybe 8-10 inches of snow otherwise with the 3 stage blower it don't work as well....should have gotten the plow blade for it as well, but I don't think you can swap between the blower and plow, stupid that MTD didn't make a universal front hitch for them, it would require a lot of work to swap hitches around to change between the blade and blower.

I was living in W.V. when the 93 blizzard hit... I worked at a large aluminum producing company that ran 24/7 365 , simply because the process could'nt stop because of weather... I was forced to stay at my job 48 hrs straight.. When the snow stopped falling, many could'nt get out of the parking lot... But..I had just bought a brand new Chevy 4x4 & I was determined to get home... The highway that came up out of the river valley was very steep.. And dozens of cars were spun out & stranded.. I sat at the bottom of the hill discouraged . But suddenly a tractor with chains came from a farm located at the bottom of this massive hill... He hooked onto me & pulled me right to the top... Being an older gentleman , I offered to go back down & do the "chain work". 3 hours later I was wet & cold & worn out.. But we pulled a couple dozen stranded motorists up the hill... When I got home , I filled my wood stove to the max & crawled into bed after being up for 2 1/2 days. I didnt go back to work for a couple days because the govenor , in his infinite wisdom, announced all roads closed & anyone caught out would be arrested .. Ok by me ... I hunkered down with my family & (without power) we slept near the woodburner . Amazing how much you read when the tv isnt an option.

Tire chains with grousers and wheel weights on the rear would make such a big difference you wouldn’t get frustrated spinning around so much but take it from me you can still get stuck with chains and weights so it’s still good to be careful where you go and what might happen if you do 🤔
