Little Cloud originally was installed in 1980 by Doppelmayr to add additional lift service to the upper Gad Valley bowls near the top of Hidden Peak until 2012 when it got replaced. It also operates for spring skiing every season often being among the last lifts to close once Snowbird closes. The old lift was so prone to wind holds since the top return was exposed to a windy ridge and the ran was also dragging as well. In 2012, Doppelmayr) yes the same company but already making newer/more reliable technology) replaced the old lift with a high-speed quad. The old lift was reused and relocated to Hunt Hollow, New York to be a backup lift to a triple chair. The new lift’s towers are wider than many similar installs because of wind-resistance and to better accommodate 90 degree unloading which Peruvian and Baldy chairs have as well. The new lift was a bit of a reliable upgrade since the top terminal is better situated to prevent wind holds and features the wind-slated carriers that was rare on other Doppelmayr lifts. Little Cloud is already over a decade old, but it’s been a smooth operator so it’s gonna last a long time to come.
