I put damp rids in all my closets year around. I have smelled so many peoples clothes with that mildew smell. Yuck. In our sinks we put a wine cork in the side hole also and lay something heavy over my shower drains. All great suggestions - another great video

Village Golf Cars also told us to over-inflate the golf cart tires (as well as unhook the battery and add the gas-additive) when we leave for the season. I’ll be down for a week in July to check things out so, fingers crossed!! We did all the other things you mentioned (bleach in drains, cover toilets, plug drains, turn off water, etc). I am interested in the oil you use, Debbie, when you leave. I do hate that musty smell! We are the only snowbirds on our street in DeLuna, so all our neighbors are looking out for us (along with our Ring doorbell and cameras!). Looking forward to getting back down there! Do renters need to be 55 years old? I'm 53, my wife 52, but I'm already researching the Villages. It looks wonderful.

We use a trickle charger on our golf cart or you can use the kill switch for your battery, but it still drains, just less. You are suppose to inflate your tires to 30 something. But you must remember to deflate & not drive on them with inflated air when you come back.

I was looking for a video about snowbirds because I'm not sure if I can stand the hot summers in the Villages. It's a big move so wanted to at lest consider part-time/snowbird. Great subject and great job!!

Social Security checks do not come out the first of the month. They come out the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month depending upon what day your birthday is. For example, mine is the 6th, so I get my payment on the second Wednesday of each month. 😅If your birthday is 1 through 10, it’s the second Wednesday etc. The only people who get paid on the first are those receiving SS disability income. A friend of mine is born on the 18th so his pay day is the third Wednesday of each month etc. Just an FYI. You ladies must not be collecting SS benefits yet. My regular pensions is the 1st as are my other IRA and deferred compensation retirement funds. I have 5 retirement accounts in total, though 3 are fairly small. I make more now than before I retired. I kind of planned it that way. I’m still poor, but was always good with numbers. The 31st AND Friday is a bad combination to be on the road. I travel Sunday evening and Wednesday or Thursday.

Hi Jan, love your videos... so informative and great opinions based on your years of experiences living in TV. Question: I am a 4.0 tennis player and would like to hook up and hit with similar skill level players. Last year during my lifestyle visit i got to play some doubles games with some really great players. I would like to know how I should get into some games while I'm down here stuffing my new house in Monarch Grove until I have to go back to NY for some summer commitments, and then back down in October for the winter till September. Such good information! We've got our lifestyle visit booked for the first week of October, arriving on the first. Is October 1st when the snow birds arrive or do they wait until November or December? We may end up coming down a couplev of days early and going to Orlando first because friend of our who live in England will be in Orlando and we'd love to see them.
