This is an interesting comment and I've looked up the criteria for this. The House of Commons Library website says "Depriving someone of their British citizenship for the public good is almost always used in the context of national security. The aim is to prevent a person who poses a threat to the United Kingdom from returning to the country, which they would otherwise have a right to do as a British citizen. For people who have naturalised as British, citizenship deprivation is permitted even if it would leave them stateless (ie without the citizenship of any country). Someone who was born British and has no other nationality cannot be deprived of their citizenship in any circumstances.". It then goes on to say "Withdrawal of passports is not the same as withdrawing citizenship. Someone whose passport is withdrawn remains a British citizen but their overseas travel is restricted. Home Office policy states this will be done “sparingly”, such as where the person intends to travel abroad to engage in terrorism. There is no right of appeal against having a passport withdrawn, but the person can ask for an internal review by the Government or apply for judicial review by a judge. From 2013 to 2021, there were 94 cases of passport withdrawal for national security reasons, according to the Home Office. So, I'm guessing this isn't an option.

I've read that removal of their titles has been discussed where appropriate but I've also read that King Charles is afraid that, because of Harry's evident mental state, any retaliation might push him over the edge. While I don't agree with this personally I can understand the logic. No father would want to have that on his conscience especially when he's also been through the tragic death of an ex wife who was the son's mother. However, removal of their titles would be a declaration to the world that they were no longer part of the RF and should be treated as such. Being plain Mr and Mrs would then hold no fascination for anyone and they'd gradually just fade away.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I'm old enough to have lived through all Princess Diana's traumas and watched a programme about her last night which revived my memory of her. She, in fact, did just what Harry's doing now and she was the one to start the ball rolling where trashing the RF is concerned. She was incredibly manipulative where the press were concerned and used them for her own ends. She's known to have told Harry when he was young "you can be naughty but just don't get caught" which is hardly good advice to give to a 4 year old. She too had serious mental problems so, in my view, Harry is just the carrying on what she started.
