Great .......Who's going to pay for it though. Unfortunately A PI team in the rugby championship or in super rugby will not be profitable. That is assuming the top PI players can get released from their European clubs (some clubs pay extra to players to make themselves unavailable) or even want to ( because they earn next to nothing to play for their country and some even have to pay their own airfare) And as many PI players play in Europe and European rugby is unwilling to shift their seasons, there is only a very short time frame for PI players to get together and form a competitive team. Sadly the whole rugby world will have to get together to help PI rugby and that is something they seem unwilling to do.

Fiji looked dangerous in that first half but they seem to lack that firepower on the bench. and that yellow card to Botia didn't help either not to mention Yato's concussion which i think he is key to their attack...all in all i still think they have a shot at the quarter finals, Uruguay and Georgia shouldn't be taken lightly but they can put them away with that type of performance in the first half against Aus then i think it will come down to Wales which will be an interesting one 🤔😎👊🇫🇯🇫🇷

@Tickey Horseman Mathematically they're still in it, but calculations can be quite long to analyze so I'll just make it short and simple since Fiji is currently hanging by a thread: Beat GEO and WAL with bonus points and hope the Welsh flop against Australia without a losing bonus point of their own. And URU to beat WAL but I just don't see that happening because 1st tier teams are totally different from 2nd tiers. Its a thin possibility and the odds are not in Fiji's favor at the moment so a likely early exit pending the outcome of pool D.

Great content and break down! Honestly it is a shame that hodge wasn’t citied when the incident first happened. What would it matter now, only Australia’s next opponents get the benefits if he does get suspended. All in all I think Fiji player a great strategy and really stunned Australia from the get go. If they can just put the same performance in in there remaining pool games I believe they can qualify for the quarters. I love the under dog story. Go Fiji Go 🇫🇯😊

Hey Squidge - just a quick idea for what you could do after the world cup is finished: have you considered doing historical recaps of classic tournaments/matches/players? So for example how New Zealand broke the curse and won 2 World cups in a row, how Wales made *that* comeback against Scotland in the 2010 six nations, what made Jonah Lomu such a good player, or even how England won the 2003 World Cup (I don't know if you've heard but that happened, it never gets mentioned, some bloke named Jerry Watkinson or something scored a last minute drop-goal). Very excited for the rest of the world cup & your vids on it but had the idea & thought I'd leave a comment whilst I remembered!

Well the won in 2011 by paying off Joubert, some of the worst refereeing i have ever witnessed. 2015 was because they were the best team in the world by a country mile and blooded aprox 97 players between 2011 and 2015

The way this game has been reacted to makes me realise that the arrogant rugby public really haven’t paid any attention to Fiji. They aren’t an invitational side, if people actually watched them they’d have seen them improving

I think that's why they're a dark horse because most people expect AUS and WAL to go on to the last eight. And they probably thought AUS will blow them away, but merely won by roughly 10-20 points in recent meetings until now.

And yet they are still been treated as 3rd world rugby nation, if a Fijian had of committed that hit to the head i don't believe for one second a red card wouldn't of been shown. So its not really the arrogant public, its the media and tier 1s that want to enhance the reputation of Fiji but only as 7s specialists.

@@april-tui3524 With due respect "the bias can be found if you look for it" there has being an emphasis put on stamping these tackles out over the past year, the directives have been clarified to the point where a non rugby viewer such as my wife can clearly identify what warrants a red card, so i would argue, you don't have to look very hard for the bias. Regarding been the start of the game, i get the ref could miss it and the linesmen but its scandalous how poor the TMOs are, they basically have one job while the game is in progress, to catch foul play. Re. SOB, there is no excuse, absolutely in agreement with you.

@@april-tui3524 Bottom line, at this point the only issue will be the safety of the players, its unlikely to impact who gets through to the Quarter finals, except for , Japan / Scotland (you would expect) .. If we have an incident like the 4 ones that been sited go unpunished in play in the knock outs it will leave a bad taste in the mouth for the tournament as a whole. Here's hoping we've seen the last of the dangerous foul play, because the quarters are looking pretty tasty

I presume your recent vids got removed over copyright? If so i also assume u won't be making any more with footage so will you be making any with any imagery at all, or has WR kyboshed that as well? How to grow the game if top people like yourself can't put out excellent content, far better than official, authorised channels, imho. Good luck to you, and if u can somehow keep us informed on the matches that would be great, but if not make sure you enjoy yourself. I'm certainly loving being in Japan, it's just fascinating.

Disagree. Have watched it a few times and it was accidental. Not sure how you cite a guy when he is the one who got smashed backwards. Accidental head clash caused the concussion.

@@bena3341 According to the rules for dangerous tackles, intent does not matter, whether Hodge meant to put his shoulder into the tackle, or whether he attempted to wrap his arms, what matters is that he hit an opposing player in the head with his shoulder (a try saving action) and gave that player a concussion without getting carded, I'd say it's fair for him to get cited, I don't mean to sound angry at you or whatever it's my opinion and you have yours

Some nice points made. Wallabies first game and traditionally they always start a bit rusty at RWC. I'd love you to do a video on what they did to the All Blacks in Perth 6 weeks ago. Different story. Expect a better showing against Wales on Sunday. That was a 5/10 performance against Fiji and they still smoked them. Just watched Samoa v Russia tonight. Should be 2 serious incidents against Samoa. Much more serious than Reece Hodges in my view. The whole Hodge thing is a storm in a tea cup. Watch him get 2 weeks though. Won't matter, plenty of back-up willing to rip into a very over rated Wales. Wallabies by 12.

Chris B Hodge wrapped the left arm and partially his right. His inside shoulder made contact with Yato’s head but there’s no malice in it. It was just a desperate tackle at high speed. Yellow at the absolute worst.

I think the the Rugby Championship needs to have a 2 tier system with relegation. bottom team will play the pacific nations, and the winner of the pacific nations cup is promoted to the RC the following season. (might no please Argy fans though) will add extra incentive for RC nations to 'no lose'...

Great analysis mate. Another massive difference tho was the scrum. If you have no scrum you are basically....fucked. To put it in perspective - it was to Australia's advantage to knock the ball on. They could just push Fiji off the ball and earn a penalty, then kick three points or peel off 50 meters for a line-out. It's a huge weakness and it's going to trouble Fiji in any game against top tier. It's the downside of having a front rower who is an international 7s player...

Ur wrong about leilafanos defence, if you actually play rugby you’re taught that when you have less numbers on defence you jockey(hold and slide backwards) so he was right in giving them space, aussie just missed their tackles and it ended up with a try to Fiji

Great vid mate. Still, I reckon you should’ve been more critical on the illegal shoulder charge to Yato’s head. Hodge was the only defender between Yato and the tryline so straight-armed it cynically. Should’ve been a red card and penalty try. Then Hodge scores the next try for Australia. Don't think it meets criteria for a red bro, more like a yellow. Hodge got smashed and if you watch carefully he did attempt to put his arms around instead he just got bowled over.
