Something that's interesting to add is that France conceded a cumulative ten points (!) in the last quarter of all its games this 6N. That's 10 points in 100 minutes or so. 3 points against Ireland from Carbery at the 73rd, 7 against Scotland from VDM's try at the 80th. (I'll add they also conceded none against the ABs this Autumn). Stopped England and Wales from scoring a single point after the 60th mark despite being on the backfoot for most of that period. Galthié and his staff had identified the last quarter as being the team's main weakness last year. All the games France lost in the 2020-2021 season were lost within the last 10 minutes, many of them on the siren. So they simulated those kind of tense last minute scenarios over and over again to get it right.

I'd also give a shout-out to Maxime Lucu for his monumental improvement over the last 12 months He's in sensational form at the moment. He was unbelievably good for Bordeaux against La Rochelle and is really running the show for them in Jalibert's absence I think it also makes great team dynamics having two club pairings as our halfback pairings (Dupont Ntamack and Lucu Jalibert) The halfback partnerships compliment brilliantly to have 2 "maverick"s and 2 "general"s. Dupont and Jalibert are our "mavericks" and Lucu and Ntamack our "generals" (though all 4 can adopt traits of the other style). Our optimal halfback pairing will be 1 general and 1 maverick to give us great balance in the halves I think we've got the perfect halfback quartet right now to take us through the world cup Beyond 2023 we will have the likes of Le Gerrac competing with Lucu and Serin for the bench spot and Couilloud aiming to compete with Dupont

Hi Squidge Rugby ! Once again, a relevant analysis with a lot of humor! Even if you speak a little too fast for my French brain and some jokes must escape me. Indeed, if the philosophy of the French game under Galthié is clear and simple: create movement and bring the ball to life at all costs and as fast as possible, the strategy as you analyze it is perfect: 1/ overwhelm; 2/ overload; 3/ overpass: either by stretching or by perforating. But please… Stop revealing everything to everyone in rugby world 😁😅🙃… Because on October 28, 2023, we all want to cry like Antoine Dupont.

So you still haven't hear of Colomiers, have you ? Galthié was their n°9, and guess who was their 10 ? Labit... :D and its the exact same method (plus a sprinkles of Shaun Edwards at the defense and Ibanez at the scrum) of 1-3-3-1 moving diamonds formation(s) where any player can be called to play any role. It takes a huge rooster of talents, but France has it (and watch the U20 and U18 games lol). We're rolling onwards a decade of French domination.

Great video Squidge! This level of analysis is sublime already and yet I feel we can go deeper yet. 13:11 As a South African, I'm F*CKING TERRIFIED at the prospect of playing France this November. At this rate I'd rather face NZL in the quarters, bc we don't fear them anymore(not to be arrogant, but NZL isn't the rugby gods they used to be in recent years anymore). Yet this French team is a once-in-a-generation team which is almost invincible like the 2015 ABs. I hope our defense can match their attack and that we might barely scrape by with regards to physicality in the forwards.

It's complicated but simple rugby. They play what's in front of them. Simplest but also hardest thing in rugby.

Oh sh** are my springboks playing against France in Paris this November? We must rip Fabian Galthie's google off him and hit Antoine Dupont unconscious with his own coach's googles. But that will be very very hard. I'm not suer if we can beat t France this year particularly because it's in Paris.
