Don't think people appreciate how ridiculously high-level Dupont's skill is to box-kick effectively off both foots. That's like a tennis player being able to smash serves off both hands. Genuinely once in a lifetime talent.

Heart breaks for Ntamack. As much as France is in a dicey position because of his injury, you gotta imagine it’s eating him up inside to be missing what was supposed to be his coronation on his home turf.

@@kimok4716 For me, the biggest absence for France is Emmanuel Meafou probably the most powerfull lock in the World. He will be eligible next december.

@@MusMasi He was injured this summer, but he returned to competition two weeks ago in the French Top 14. He cannot be selected for France. As a foreigner arrived in France in november 2018 he will be eligible in december 2023, too late for only two months !

Nice tribute to Guirado, as i always remember him bravely facing cruel interviews after even more cruel defeats. He was an admirable captain during the worst France rugby era (2015-2019). It's now Dupont mission to transform the Nederlands of rugby into truly French Champions.

@@Chris-cb4ig Mon dieu à quel point tu fais honte à notre pays. Des nations comme le Pays de Galles prouvent que le nombre de licenciés ça ne veut pas dire grand chose. On est jamais aussi fort que quand on a une grosse opposition, j'espère que les nations du sud (comme celles du nord) continueront à montrer leur meilleur niveau et que la France réussira à les battre malgré tout, comme on l'a fait ces dernières années. Le but c'est de faire du Rugby un grand sport, et d'en être le meilleur, pas d'être le plus gros poisson d'une toute petite mare. Une grande équipe de France qui bat de grands adversaires vaut mieux qu'une équipe de France moyenne qui bat des adversaires médiocres.

Genuinely hope France win. The only possible outcome that might change that is if it's France vs England in the final, but that would require something inexplicable to happen (for england). Les Blues sont la meilleur equipe du monde maintenant et avec toutes des jeux en la France, cette sera un realisation extraordinaire. Cependant je pense que l'équipe a une problème contre les equipes T2, et peut faire auto destruction sans raision. Pardon pour ma français je ne pratique plus!

I'm proud to call France my second team after having lived here for two years. One of my favourite memories of watching rugby was in 2021 watching France vs New Zealand in a bar in Madrid with two French friends. We were the only French supporters there, the rest happened to be New Zealanders. We sang the anthem loud and proud, attracting some wry smiles... but by the end of the match, we were the ones smiling! Everyone else was sitting there stunned. Allez les bleus !!!

Sad not to see Ntamack in the RWC - think of the all the plays you won't be able to marry - but I think you're correct that his absence won't cripple France. As utterly brilliant as the Ntamack-Dupont duo is, they never rely exclusively on each other and that ability to bring so many team members onto their wave length is what makes France such an absolute joy to watch. Thank you so SO MUCH for all of your work in the run-up to World Cup!! I can't even imagine the amount of work that went to it but we appreciate it. No one else has quite the same ability to combine keen analyses with such utter love of the game.

France vs Boks Final will be one for the ages. As a Bok fan, France is the only team I would not mind too much losing a final to. They have been my favourite team to watch since my first RWC in 1995 where I watched the Boks beat France in a rain soaked Kingspark

I can't stress how gutted I still am for Guirado. He was one hell of a player and he never got the career he deserved because of how dismal French Rugby used to be when he was captain.

AS a French guy i feel that your analysis on the French team in terms of spirit and the question "which team is coming up" is very much accurate of what French fans have asked for years ! Such a bummer for Ntamack. Another injury that could play a big part is that of Cyril Baille, he's miles above any other loosehead prop in France.. But I still believe we can do this, allez les petits !!

Dupont/N'tamack are probably the best half-backs duo, playing together all year long, since 2017. Without N'tamack, I don't know how we gonna win this year ... If Dupont is the mind, N'tamack is the spirit of this team.

I feel you forgot one thing about the Dupont-Ntamack pair, it is their wonderful association with the third playmaker of both Toulouse and the XV de France, ie Thomas Ramos who sometimes appears to be telepathically linked to Ntamack.

yes of course, and they can loose it too, but rarely a French team looses on its own ground in front of its own crowd in a competition they have all long awaited and they are hosting. So, I would be careful not to bet on them.

Ntamack is a big loss but with Jalibert and Hastoy or even Ramos, we have very good options to replace him. I'm more concerned by the absence of Danty and Willemse as we don't have so many options.
