Hey everyone todays video is so very special its me finally revealing this once abandoned log cabin mansion is now owned by me! Its always been a question I got asked if I was ever going to buy an abandoned house I explore and todays the day. This abandoned home is on 4100 square foot and sits on 20 acres. This couldn't have been possible without you! Im going to be doing a whole renovating series on this channel about this house, so hopefully you guys are interesting in seeing that. Thanks again for everything I love you all and thanks for making this possible.

Didn't he say it's only 20 years old? That's not old. 150, 200 years is old. Place has modern electricity that doesn't use fuses, it's an abandoned new construction. Swap out fixtures you don't like, fix the exterior but the interior isn't outdated it's simply not his taste.

yeah I see that a lot where I live as well, people will buy a property with beautiful healthy trees on it,log the whole thing and make it look like shit. Having $ doesn't mean having taste..usually seems to be the exact opposite.

@@mike9672 I'm all for healthy foresting, but it made me laugh that your defense for cutting down trees was so that he could start making his own toilet paper 😂 the fact is, if the guy has some 15 or so acres of forest, he can afford to clear a little bit of the brush. However, if he's clearing it just to clear it then it's kind of a waste. If he's at least getting firewood out of it I could live with that. Making lumber, a hot commodity right now, would be even better. But dude, making toilet paper would be above and beyond!

I hope his face is on the video when he finds out how expensive it’s going to be to replace that deck! Bathrooms and kitchen updates. Leave flooring and walls alone. He also needs to forget about personal additions like the fireman’s pole. Forget about cutting down trees - unnecessary expense. That basement and office building need to be finished. Depending on the location of the property, they probably could make a profit on resale. Something tells me they are going to blow it!

This house is far from outdated! This is a preppers haven! The off-road seclusion, massive storage space, plenty of trees for firewood during the winter. The open concept is a huge advantage if you get an intruder because you can see everything! There is a ton of land for growing your own produce. This would be a great place to put a gun range as well. When things get bad, this would be the perfect place to ride it out.

I'm quite sure he payed a pretty penny for that cabin and land. Also, if they used the trees on the property and processed their own wood, they could build the fence themselves and save a lot. I doubt they do that since the majority of people don't possess that kind of knowledge. I also noticed that they hired a company to do their remodel. I just hope they don't turn this cabin into a frat house. It would be a shame to not take advantage of its security potential, storage space, and homesteading qualities.

Exactly right. There are even very useful pockets of micro-climate to be found on this property. If you want to improve the place , start by restoring the pond area , possibly remove some weeds , and if anything , plant MORE trees ! If fire is a concern , consult with a land scaping expert first , as this property is worth the effort. Look towards preserving , and adding to what nature has already provided.

Gorgeous! Curious how much does an abandoned house sell for..ballpark? Where is it located?. I've always wanted one. I have a house plan from dealer on my fridge for 20 yrs. Why was it abandoned? Go online for decorating ideas and items or antique shops, auctions Likely get tips for cleaning logs outside. I'd go with more rustic-antiques, re-purposed furniture and items, anything handmade, your ball nets with handles in basement-display on wall, even buy canned goods from farmers markets or Amish to display and use. I found beautiful couches made by Pendleton Co (famous blankets traded from Indians if you like that style). I would allow myself one big purchase like this $3,000 but the quality will last forever! It's look would fit the size room. Do you want authentic design inside? Think back to pioneer times-it was handmade a lot...the tools, furniture, wagons, primitive style. Look for antique shops specializing in primitives. Walnut, cherry, pine. Cast iron skillets, stoneware, baskets. Braided, crocheted, animal hides or hooked area rugs. Quilts, primitive art. I'd consider making that fireplace bigger, more rustic with cooking pots. I'd enlarge pond or lake for swimming and fishing. Maybe keep small pond for goldfish, landscape naturally with rocks, water plants, small waterfall? Benches. Running water is so peaceful and calming to listen to! Don't forget lighting outdoors-it's very dark in the woods. Hidden light and speakers built into big rocks. I love the layout with living room on one side and dining on other maybe. It looks balanced when you come into that room. I agree with your opening up that wall or top half of wall in kitchen tho. It feels closed off. I've always wanted a couch in my kitchen...oak cabinets I'd sell..when log cabins were built they had cupboards, shelving out of pine, walnut etc. Oak wasnt used till much later when the other woods disappeared-wrong time period. I'd be living in that right now! Congratulations you have a really lovely home! Is it your first home purchase? And I'd love the remodeling shows! Hreat idea! Love that kind of thing! If you cut trees down consider if the wood is pretty enough for tables etc or firewood, a dock, new porch... You're gonna have so much fun doing that house! Good luck!

He did mention his brother as the owner, also. Sorry, but he sounds a bit immature about some of the changes, such as knocking out upstairs railing to put in a pole to slide down to the first floor...what? Renovations to a place this large will need professional contractors, not just 2 brothers with a bucket of paint, a hammer and saw! Extensive Floor refinishing, and exterior log staining/refinishing alone will be quite expensive. What about the roof, electrical and plumbing, as well as land clearing/maintaining? The deck replacement/staining will be a long arduous task...oh, yeah! What about future wives...two families in one big house? Who gets to clean those floors and bathrooms? This log mansion and property needs a millionaire to hire most of these tasks done, but good luck, bros.

Hey Kyle, I'm not a subscriber. This was a gue stemming from my log home searches. I own a log home and I would offer this advice. Do some research before you start renovation. Log homes are very different than a regular home. Chinking between logs. Log shrinking. Termites and other insects that must be a regular maintenance aspect. Woodpeckers, carpenter bees and so on. Please don't think you can just blast the outside of the logs with a pressure washer. As I said. Do your research. Don't be discouraged. The extra work that goes into a log home is well worth it. There is nothing like living in a log home. With the right furniture and lighting your home will bring you peace like you have never known before.. You will find there is no place you would rather be. Good luck my friend....

The interior looks great to me! simple upgrades on hardware and it would be move in ready! I would guess that the exterior is half log siding covering a 2x6 wall. If that is the case you could use L P smartside to update it, or even pole barn steel for a more modern look. If it were my place, i would turn the "office" building into a hangout for friends and family, just to keep the mess out of your house. Maybe put a garage door in the back section for your ATVs and such. Maybe do a stone wall on the front of the house. it would pop.

The Kitchen is the main thing that needs upgrading and enlarging with an huge Island with stools added light coming in from both sides of the house and extending out the counters with counter upgrade. The house may seem too many as outdated but remember outdating always returns. I would only set to open the house to expand its beauty when sitting in one room and looking onto another.. And get rid of the sheetrock on half the walls and put up wanes coat or something on that line. With everything going on in the world be sure to keep those wood burning fireplaces and start stocking wood. Its beautiful .......

I, personally, would not remove live trees unless removing them to allow nicer trees to grow. Maybe clean up some brush around them. Like someone else mentioned they provide a wind block. And, it would be a shame to remove all the smaller buildings/coops. Unless you can find someone who wants them. They look like they'd make great shelter for outdoor pets such as chickens. I'd hate to see perfect shelters torn down. As far as the kitchen. I wouldn't remove/move the wall you mentioned. From the looks of it you could just expand out, over the spot that looks like it had a rug. That spot kind of looks like wasted space. I am not sure how a table would look there because it appears as if it's right in a traffic flow. I'd put a table in the smaller room with the fireplace. And, yes, I would definitely remove the basement ceiling and raise it. Maybe even find a spot for the laundry on a higher level. I can't believe that house has sat abandoned! It's amazing!

Hi Kyle. Oh my Gosh, you actually bought it??? I LOVE THIS PROPERTY!! Most definitely a renovation series. They're among my favorite. As far as Reno ideas? Going by the area un which the house is & the history of the property, you could search for decor that would reflect the history of the area & your personal lifestyles. No antlers though. That's creepy. Lol. Area rugs are great for dedicated rooms in an area with an open concept.

Kyle, I think you made the right decision to purchase this big beautiful log cabin house. It is absolutely beautiful! And the land is gorgeous too. I knew a woman that sold her four bedroom two bath for a half a million, and bought a purchased a used home in Grant's Pass, Oregon. And the contractor that purchased her old house in Eurka, CA, remodeled it and relandscaped it re sole it over a million dollars. This was two years ago. You can never go wrong buying and fixing homes that need a little TLC.

Beautiful property & home! I don't know what state you're in (my first time to your channel), but it sounds like you got a great deal on it. Just a little advice for you. Live in it for awhile before doing any major alterations. It's amazing how your first ideas can change after seeing how you really use the space and learn what you can't stand and what you grow to appreciate with some time. If you're planning to tear down and remove pens & cages please consider contacting a local wildlife rehab and see if they could use any of the materials rather than just sending them to a dump. Most wildlife rehabs work on an extremely tight budget of their own resources and would appreciate any donations of reusable materials. I look forward to watching what you do with this great find!

I didn't take down many oak trees on my property as they covered at least half of the lot . I had a very old oak at the triangle of 1) out of the front door, 2) down the walkway to 3) the driveway. It's limbs and leaves over hanging the driveway. And acorns by the thousands. Got to be careful when walking through them or you can slip and fall very easily. They can get out of control before you know it. Love my Old oak trees and the unrelenting falling of leaves. My house blends in so naturally. But got to keep up the yard so my leaves don't end up in my neighbor's (3 homes) back and side yards. It's so beautiful in the fall and winter when it snows!

agree. when my parents built there housein the late 90s, the lot had close to 20, 200+ year old oak trees, and over the 20 years they lived there, the oaks started to die out of reached their lifespan for our region of the county and cutting them down took a lot of money (and a 70ft ladder firetruck :) ) but it was a lesson for our family to be more mindful of the trees surrounding the home when building it vs later on. Same issues with leaves and acorns too lol, but its definitely easier to take them out when they are smaller

@@starrywarz Absolutely! My yard is full of life, one of my favorites is the bright green moss. My trees are mostly oaks of various ages some of which are 30-60 years old. I had to remove a huge oak that was overhanging much of my roof and driveway. Yes....it takes a lot of work to maintain these beautiful trees. I agree with a lot of other posts. Refinish the floors, and maybe paint the walls a warm peach color to accentuate the wood. Definitely open up the kitchen and renovate it with more natural charm versus plain cookie cutter cabinets and appliances. Plenty of interior design ideas on line for cabins like that. Can see knocking wall down wall to showcase stairs. Deck needs redone, power wash and reseal exterior timbers. Clean up underbrush and selectively clear trees so the larger healthy canopy trees can flourish. Can use extra building as a guest house. Just me but would leave pens with all the craziness right now, raising own animals might be invaluable.

If you take down the trees you can have a lot of issues with soil erosion! The roots of the trees hold the soil together. That is why areas that clear forests for grazing or crops can quite quickly can turn to desert. You may want to have a tree specialist come in and carefully clear out some of the underbrush.

Planting more native species beneficial for local wildlife and eliminating any invasive species that may have been imported is definitely the way to go. We looked into replanting native grasses on our 40 acre farm back when we first purchased it but unfortunately it was extremely cost prohibitive at the time. I so regret that decision not to pursue that now.

When you're cleaning up the outside please remember NOT to use Round Up or other weed killing products. That stuff kills literally everything including our honey makers the BEES. Next spring as things start growing again the dandelions are one of the first weeds to start growing and the BEES need all the good stuff in the dandelions to get started in another new season. If you must get rid of them get a couple of goats. They love dandelions and other weeds.

Lovely that you are humble and this is gorgeous! We own our own version of this house! I would not change hardly anything! We just repainted our homes exterior because it is cedar sided so you don't see the solid wood til you come inside. Inside we have a match to this home but ours is smaller. We just worked on our home and painted our cupboards due to a break in when we were not here, door left open and cupboards were worn....no reason to replace them and painting them white with a light grey below was wonderful! We did paint some of our wood walls downstairs but left the beautiful beams stained, all the trim and the bedroom below all stained walls! Our upstairs has the same style of beams! Its all solid wood walls with some drywall that was done to separate the office from bedroom and to enclose the bathroom in the 90s. We don't have acreage but out back is the ocean...wide open water view....wish I had acreage here but the water is my acreage I guess as we own down to the beach...280 feet above the beach and set back. You have a GEM!!! Beautiful and just stunning in every way!!!!

Just my 2 cents. As many have said already, don't jump on clear cut/blasting out all the trees right away. Will quite a few end up going? Maybe. Clear some underbrush. Then wait. Get to KNOW the different landscapes around you. Take your time with this. Why? Because what is removed in a day has taken decades to be there. I'm from Canada and trees grow like weeds here so I get it. The key is once they're down, they're down. Remember, it's not just trees you're removing, you're taking away pieces of habitat, as well. So, do what you gotta do. I just recommend taking some time to roam around. Understand where prevailing winds and bad weather usually moves thru, etc. THEN make your move. OK. More like 2 dollars worth. Best of luck and congratulations :-)

Very good advice. Move in and LIVE there first. Get to know the place , the seasons , the winds , sunshine , rainfall , water run -off etc etc..... Observe the local wildlife , and the habitats already there. Preserve what nature already provided for you. If you want a cleared area for lawns , you can have that too , the place is big enough . It takes no brains and no time to chainsaw a big tree , but DECADES , if not generations , to replace one.

The outside deck and porches look to be in the worst shape. The floors inside look good. I would say live in it and then make changes. The one major thing I would have checked first is the fireplaces before using them. One of the out buildings can be a woodworking shop, even on rainy days things could get done. Maybe not this year but can you imagine this placed decked out for Christmas. Recycle, reuse and save everything you can.

With all his talk of updating and renovating I'm going to guess that they plan of flipping the place. I suspect he's a city guy and doesn't know what is most desirable in this type of property. This house is in no way a mansion as he has titled it, maybe it would be considered such in the city he's from. A person that intends to stay and make this home for years or decades to come would never remove outbuildings unless they weren't safe or dilapidated. He looks 30 but talks like 15. If indeed his intent is to flip he's about to lower his potential profit.
