Sun and Moon had such awesome intros! Also Fun Fact: @10:04 the intro for Pokémon XYZ most possibly came out in like 2014 or 2015. And I think that was the LAST time "Gotta Catch Them All!" Was used for the series slogan and Sun and Moon was the last game to have all 700+ Pokémon at the time! But when the games switched over to the Nintendo Switch and got more and more Pokémon they had to cut some of the Pokémon for Sword and Shield and ESPECIALLY Scarlett and Violet to possibly literally prevent the console from exploding because it wouldn't be able to withstand ALL those Pokémon and graphics!

Nah, it could handle it just fine, they just didn’t want to pay their devs to model and rig the full set for the next generation so they could keep up their annual release schedule. It kinda sucks, but it was just a corporate decision in the end rather than a hardware one.

@@52catsinatrenchcoatno it’s that they’re smart and know their priorities ⁠I can’t believe how badly you still care about graphics when that’s not the focus of the game They prefer to prioritize worldbuilding and lore over something so shallow and superficial A true fan would get that Their research and lore that goes into the franchise is actually high quality and very well thought out lore is more important to than graphics and performance they know where their priorities are and that’s smart so it’s not that they need to change it’s that you just don’t understand what they’re going for and who they’re appealing too and what makes the franchise special to begin with Lore is their priority I know that the game isn’t perfect and that there’s issues Pokémon is a franchise where the theme is friendship is magic and meeting cute and cool unique monsters What the hell does graphics and performance have to do with those things? Among all the theme songs of Pokémon, you can’t go wrong with the very one that started it all. While some theme songs were hit or miss since then, I think Pokemon XY’s first theme is both a nod and a fitting tribute to the original’s!

You should definitely listen to more of the Hoenn and Sinnoh themes. Maybe its just nostalgia speaking but they are so good. Also, Stand Tall is a banger. My favourite one.

Pokémon Journeys wasn’t JUST Galar (aka Sword and Shield). Ash was journeying to ALL the regions that he’s gone to before that series.

You should definitely watch the japanese openings. And btw you should definitely watch Pokémon horizons (the new one) it’s completely different and follows a different storyline, so you don’t need any catching up since it’s a brand new story, and it’s also fire, the story is amazing and there aren’t any filler episodes, and the characters go through so much development it’s insane, you gotta watch it, definitely would love seeing you react to it on here

That last opening for Pokémon horizons wasn’t the official opening. There is currently no English dub intro for Pokémon horizons, only the JP intro

I was initally turned off from the Sun and Moon anime, mainly because of the artstyle change, but so many things changed that. The intros, Ash's friends (especially, Mallow, Lillie, and Gladion), Ash's team, the fact Ash won this region's league! And now I really appreciate the Sun and Moon anime so much more.

The little yellow one in the 2nd OP is called Elekid, BUT it evolves into Electabuzz, which could be what you were thinking of. Despite what, r34 artwork would make you think, Gardevoir is not, in fact, always female. It's 50/50 actually. Now Gallade, the split evolution of Kirlia, is 100% male (Kirlia can evolve into either Gardevoir-through level up- or Gallade-if it's male and exposed to a Dawn stone) The Sun and Moon anime got a totally new art style, which might be why you didn't recognize Ash right away. It's called Journeys rather than Sword and Shield b/c, it covers ALL the regions, not just the Galar region, it actually wasn't in Galar all that much, comparatively. Also idk what your chat was smoking, Goh was fine as a companion, he was fun. He's not a bad character (Ash has for sure had less likeable companions lmao).

I love Pokémon it’s one of my favorite anime and game series. For me I ABSOLUTELY love the Pokémon galactic battle opening it’s so good. The opening for the start of the hoenn region was great as well. Than we obviously respect the original opening that pretty much everyone knows. I still remember my face when the design change for the series happened and hated it💀 but then I got use to it and journeys somewhat fixed it.

While getting hype for Legends Arceus, I wrote my fan theory crafting how a pokemon game could be played like how we see in the anime, while still keeping to the limitations of 4 moves per pokemon, basically using the joysticks to select on wheel menus commands, movements, and dodges, like how they yell I'm the anime "dodge it!" and like practically a 50/50 if they succeed

Honestly, with a series as long as Pokemon, it really depends on what kind of commitment you're looking for. You can either start at the very beginning and watch Ash go through his entire journey over what will probably take years, or start with Horizons (which is completely separate with a new story and protagonist) and only go into the long haul afterwards if you decide you enjoyed it enough to keep watching.

The reason why the Gen 8 anime wasn't called Sword and Shield is because the anime didn't take place in Galar. Since Journeys was meant to be Ash's final series, they had him revisit all of the previous regions he visited, in addition to showing off the Galar Region with its new Dynamax and Gigantamax features. Abd the entirety of Pokémon Journeys was a pseudo tournament arc as Ash was competing in the World Coronation Series, which is a huge tournament that's meant to determine who the strongest trainer in the world is.

Pokémon started as a game. Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green released in Japan in 1996, and then the Pokémon Anime aired in 1997. However, the anime was localized and aired in America before the localized Pokémon Red version and Pokémon Blue version were released in America

Bro this made me kinda emotional, I fell out of touch with the franchise but as a teenager Pokémon was my entire life I swear - it meant everything to me back then. I look so fondly at the franchise. Black and White was personally the show that got me into the franchise in the first place so I have a big soft spot for it.

Pokémon journeys wasn’t called Sword and Shield because it wasn’t JUST about Sword and Shield. It was essentially a celebration of the entire series as a whole, we basically went back to every other region from the previous seasons, got to reunite with old friends, and basically wrap up Ash’s chapter in the series. Now In Pokémon Horizons we’ve got a new protagonist with a new story to tell. I refuse to watch Pokémon dubbed anymore because the Japanese openings are so good especially from X&Y, Sun&Moon, Journeys, & Horizons

The original is called “Dokimeki Diary” I think Same thing with the Sun&Moon openings. “Your Adventure” is my favorite one, and from Journeys “1•2•3” (all four versions of it) are so good as well, the English ones don’t hold a candle

Honestly, despite the nostalgia of Opening 1, I really like the Johto Journeys opening. It's a very fun and excitable tune. Pokemon Journeys' opening has a similar feel, which makes it my second favorite.

Loved this! If I were to rank the best op in each gen, indigo and orange only have one, best Johto is probably Born to be a winner (they’re all good honestly, and despite half of this one being a remix of the OG it’s SO good), Hoenn is maybe Advanced Challenge, Sinnoh is any but the first even if I still kinda like it they’re REALLY good. Probably Galactic Battles which has an amazing full song. Unova only had the two you saw which are hard to chose from, Kalos the last one, Alola the first, and I haven’t listened to all of the Journeys ones enough. Excited to see if you’ll do more!

Please do a part 2 where you listen to the rest of the openings for gens 1-4 and the japanese openings. If you start a show i would recomend starting with either the first season or horizons(as its really good-ive been watching the jp version) and it not connected to any of the other series/seasons.

I would love to see the Japanese openings, especially Journeys OP 4, definitely the best one for journeys

Johto Journeys (season 3), Master Quest (season 5), Advanced Battle (season 8), Galactic Battles (season 12) and XY&Z (season 19 JP) are the ones I prefer. Black and White (season 14, 15, 16) had a decent one, thoug all three seasons of its generation uses different sections of the full song as their themes. Favourit Pokémon? Chikorita.

you should DEFINITELY listen to all the Japanese intros, some of them are better than some bigger name animes. Some are still 7/10s, but later on- especially during gen 6 and 7 -are goosebumps-inducing :]
