We never met or talked, but you have been a major part of my reason for getting into turning. How bad do I have it. American beauty bad. Just did a follow up on your Hollowing on the cheap, youtube Homemade Hollowing tools. Took 2 years to make them that’s how long I had the cutters. Turning is in my blood and wood has been a large part of me for over 50 years. Everything I have learned to turn is from youtube. 200 bowls later I’m getting better. Can’t thank you enough for your videos more the way than the content. Thanks God Bless!!

I echo the sentiment of what others have already expressed. Of all the KZfaqrs that teach and show wood turning you are the premier standout. You seem to understand what the student needs to grasp to overcome learned skill roadblocks. With that understanding you couple the correct camera angle shot that demonstrates the skill clearly. Coupling these dynamics with your skill and passion for the craft, you remain the best of the best. Father, Grant your merciful kindness to Eddie. Grant him eternal kindness through the love and redemptive work of Jesus Christ.

Cap'n Eddie it is we who owe you more thanks than we could ever adequately convey for all you have done (and will continue to do) for the wood turning community. Beyond that; I think it is safe to say that a good many of us consider you a cherished member of the family. You have taught so much to so many over the years that we can never repay that debt, no matter how much we try, but we will continue to pay it forward in your honor. We mere mortals have no idea what the future holds but I promise you we will be hoping and praying that the situation improves for both you and Management and that someday you'll be back in front of the camera doing what yo do so well! Until then we'll be makin' shavings with the knowledge you've imparted. Godspeed my friend and a most sincere thank you for your service, both to our country and to the wood turning community. Both are better for it!

Cap, you were one of the first mentors I found when I got my first lathe, an old Craftsman, which is still chugging away for its 3rd owner since me. You taught me so much about what to do and what not to do, and staying safe in my shop. I have gone from sharing part of a one-stall garage to opening my own 12x12 freestanding shop later this month. I learned to turn from many woodturners on KZfaq but I learned the most from you, Cap. In the beginning I went to your video's tab, sorted by oldest first and watched every video you ever made. Four hours every morning, then in the shop to practice what I had seen you do. It took awhile but it finally all came together. I thank you, Cap'n Eddie and I wish you only the best in health, life and woodturning. Mind the docs and management. Let's get this taken care of once and for all. ❤ Phil

Capn' Eddie I wish I would've found your youtube channel years ago! I tagged you in my first lathe video yesterday (Nov 23 2022) then today I saw you also had this page “Eddie Castelin” and still occasionally post on this channel. I will continue to pray for you! P.S. I have a lot of health problems too, so I sorta know what you're going through! Take care Eddie! ~CJ

Eddie, you’ve done a lot for the wood turning craft all over the world. You’ve inspired men and women to make beautiful wood turnings. Now when people look at wood they don’t just see a tree, they see bowls, platters, vessels of all shapes and sizes. Speaking for myself, I made a small challis, pens, pencils and a wooden pointer for a teacher. I took the craft of wood working to the next level and made wooden tools for my wood shop. One such tool was for my dust collection system. I made 12 self cleaning blast gates out of wood. Eddie, it’s time to step back, relax, smell the flowers, take a nap and most importantly give your body the time it needs to mend. My friend, healing takes time. No matter how much you want to get back into your shop, you must listen to the doctors. Your body is tired and worn out. Take care my friend. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Best regards, Richard
