Jennifer, you are an amazing ray of light in this world - it was so kind and generous of you to have tried to help this man with what is clearly a very serious anxiety disorder. My heart breaks for him - it sounds like he will never really be able to let go of his irrational fears unless he undergoes some intensive psychological counseling.

Jennifer I just want to thank you so much for your advice around hiv, I have been plagued ever since I was young of the fear of it, I had a test last week and it was the hardest thing I've ever done, I even used your analogy about the bungee jump about the test, it came back negative. I just want to thankyou for your videos, you truly are an angel

I had serious anxiety for YEARS about possibly having HIV and convincing myself that I had symptoms... when I finally tested and it was negative, I couldn’t stop smiling. A giant weight was lifted! There wasn’t any part of me that thought I still had it. I immediately starting telling all my friends that they should test too. Everyone should know their status and trust that the test is accurate!

Igneos Kai I had dry mouth, dry skin at corners of mouth, literally had no saliva for a few weeks. Headaches, extreme fatigue, like EXTREME fatigue. Swollen lymph node near jaw with a cold to go with it. Hurt to swallow at times. I got tested in 2016 and I now get tested once a year and I also just gave birth to a baby boy in July of this year (they test for hiv in all pregnancies). He’s healthy, I’m healthy. It’s all good. I think all these symptoms were associated with extreme anxiety. Anxiety can cause all of the symptoms I listed

Igneos Kai no problem. By extreme fatigue I mean that when I wasn’t working (or even when I was) I was fighting off falling asleep standing up, I had the will to move but I always wanted to nap or sleep 12 hours straight, but I think this was due to the fact that my fear of having hiv was taking a toll on me mentally and physically. It’s all I thought about.

You’re very welcome Richard. I guess I just see this virus for what it is, a virus (like the flu) and it doesn’t make sense for people to hate me for this microscopic controlled little thing in me that affects absolutely no one. Surviving my AIDS diagnosis is also helped because having the undetectable virus was just nothing compared to going through a low Tcell and pneumonia. I feel lucky honestly. So funny that this video was recommended to me. I have been taking Post Exposure Prophylaxis for the past 3 weeks, and a few days ago I was freaking out about it a bit because of joint and muscle pain, but I'm taking Atripla as PEP which is very strong and apparently that's one of the side effects sometimes, just that seroconversion can also occur in 3-4 weeks after exposure, but like I have no fever, no diarrhea, no crazy symptoms except weakness. 😂 There's a possibility I may have HIV but I probably don't, either way I should just be patient and think about other things, is really not the end of the world and you are living proof of that. Thank you for your video ❤️

I believe these individuals suffer from intense OCD/panic disorder or generalized anxiety. I suffer from OCD and ruminations can be horrible. I think a lot of this anxiety and panic is guilt or worry that’s been misdirected. Perhaps these individuals are actually worried about something else, but they hyper focus on an HIV diagnosis. That’s just what comes to mind after hearing your stories.

It’s a form of OCD. Some people will get tested over and over, and disbelieve their results. They definitely need cognitive behavioral therapy. And yes, rapid testing is easier than suffering daily with the belief you are hiv positive. Thanks, Jen for informing heterosexual men and women that the virus is difficult to transmit in the heterosexual community. As someone that has become very paranoid about this in the past, thank you for this video. I was so worried about this in the past that I gave myself symptoms. This I realized was a serious OCD/PTSD/Anxiety issue I had that I needed to overcome. Oraquicks are great, Blood tests are better. If you are not positive at 6 to 8 weeks post-exposure with an oraquick it is not likely to change at the 3-month window. However, if you are that worried, a blood test is very accurate at 1 month. Now If I was to have unprotected sex with someone, They are taking an OraQuick first.

Crazy stuff happened. I was sexually assaulted, few days later I started having flu like symptoms. Two weeks later I went to a clinic and asked for STDs testing. They all came back negative. I wasn't convent's because of the window period and two week was too early for testing. So for three months I was sick and had all of the symptoms like crazy. This was the sickest time I ever been in my life. Every glands in my body was swollen and including all of the symptoms you had. Thing started getting worse after my boyfriend started having the same symptoms as me after me. I was so scared, thinking I would never forgive myself if I infected him. I was depressed, I started thinking ways of committing suicide. I started praying like three times a day for three months. I started watching your videos and it helped me to expect what is going to come. I was thinking of the hiv, at the three months mark I finally did Oraquick hiv home test and it came back negative. We still don't know why I was sick this bad. Do you guys think I should test again at the six months park?

I did a small surgery in hospital The doctor used scalpel, is HIV virus which in inactive on a scalpel due to exposure to open air is capable to infect a person if cut with the same scalpel to cause bleeding?

I had appendicitis during thanksgiving. When I got home from the hospital, I was really anxious and woke up the first hour of sleep in a night sweat. I looked up the symptoms... and it was “ possibly HIV.” Ever since then can’t get these anxious thoughts out of my head. Great videos btw and so glad you’re doing well!

I was like this and for one year I took hiv test every week. I change the places that I took the test cause I thought the people were lying to me about my results. It was scary. I had to start going to a psychologist to get over the me thinking I had it.

Hey whats goin on jennifer i had a question for you and id really appreciate if you could answer for me is there any possibility of a false negative at 10 months? Ive had 2 tests after my exposure 1 year and a half ago i had a 10 panel std test after about 3 weeks after the exposure and then i had another one a couple months ago at the 10 month mark is it wise to retest because of a chance of a false negative?

In the early 90s I wrote farewell letters to all my family. I found out a girl I had been with had been with about 500 guys. The scare was so bad then. They said 1 in 7 had it. Also you could go 10 years and not know. So.. We all thought we were dying. It did something to me. I worried daily. Noone had answers. Totally messed me up. Later my uncle died from it. Which added to my fears. I was afraid to get tested. So I remained celebate for many years. I stayed away from family because they said you could get from kissing , sharing utensils, sneezing , urine and fecal matter etc. Very detrimental time for me. Not sure I've fully recovered from the worry

I was so scared to be tested 😢I got raped. After that I started hearing rumors the man had hiv. He was sickly looking. He coughed blood up and was thin. I also had slept around when I was very young. I’m pregnant with my first child and decided after years of waiting to get tested. I been tested multiple times and am hiv NEGATIVE. I broke down crying because I was so happy and relieved I had convinced my self I was dying and their was no going back. I’m extremely careful now and wish I would of just been tested.

Cuz my tonsils are swollen and they had some mucus on them it’s been almost one week that my throat has been inflamed. I hope I’m okay. But in 90 days imma buy the oral check at cvs for 40 dollars since it’s 300 to get tested at the hospital
