Absolutely brilliant, it's great that you reacted to this, it's a side of Wagakki Band that doesn't get seen so often. Yet it is a great way for the individual members to showcase their skills and to see something with a real Japanese flavour.

This is just traditional Japanese music. In traditional Japanese music, songs and instruments almost never play the same rhythm and melody. The music is structured in such a way that discordant melodies are harmonized. Japanese music is all about how to unite the individual personalities to create a pleasant piece of music. These instruments date back to the 16th century or later, but the music played on the gagakki, which dates back to the 7th century, has the same structure of harmonizing disharmony.
