Soap making video for the Soap Challenge Club November 2019 - Soap Curls in the Advanced category - making soap curls fully embeded into the soap.
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
This was my first attempt for the soap curl challenge where I made my soap curls that are also used for my second attempts too. I made two sets of soaps to create the soap curls where I have used the soap recipe Amy has provided us in her soap tutorial. I made one soap with two layers - red layer and green layer and the other soap I made was a marbled soap using pink and uncoloured soap. Some great tips for making soap curls is to:
- Let the soap go through gel phase
- Do not use sodium lactate
- Adjust the blade of the planer for the thickness of the curls
- Use a skewer for thinner curls/use a pen for bigger curls
- Unmould and curl the soap early on before the soap hardens!

The colourants I used in this video were:
White- kaolin clay
Pink- Pink clay
Red- Red clay
Green- Spirulina (Avocado oil and Hemp oil)
Essential oil blend: Eucalyptus, Peppermint, tea tree and lavender
I made another attempt and submitted that for the entry for the month because I didn't think this was pretty enough. The curls were not thick enough and the contrast between the colours isn't enough. What do you think? Check out the video for my final entry to the Soap Challenge:
