In this knitting tutorial I will show you how to knit a traditional heel flap.
This is the first video of three of the Mimifabrics Summer Sock Knitting Club of 2024. This year we are focusing on three fantastic heel types. Join the conversation and fun in our Facebook knitting group for more inspiration / 193731056956644
The heel flap is a great fit for those with a high instep and narrow heel. It is also easily reinforced by adding a strand of laceweight yarn for the heel knitting portion. Other variations include working with slipped stitches to create a textured heel detail (not part of this video).
In this video I am knitting with 5 double pointed needles size 2.5mm 15cm length and REGIA Premium Silk Sock Yarn.
All supplies are available in the Mimifabrics Shop

If you prefer knitting with the magic loop method or flexi-tip needles, I recommend using stitch markers to visualize your points of increase/decrease.
