We really need a petition to get these guys to make a Band of Brothers/ Pacific Style Miniseries about SOG. I think it would be a huge success there’s so many people that are obsessed with these stories!!

Just a Vietnam mini series of some kind. Many things made Band Of Brothers the greatest but what really set it apart from the Pacific story wise was the state side training as a group then going off to battle as a group.

I can honestly say that he and his fellow SOG members are some of the most heroic soldiers that ever served our Great Republic . Every mission they undertook would be Worthy of medals . I was lucky enough to meet Bruce Crandall. When i got out of the army in 2012 i was invited to a galla in las vegas. It was a 4 or 5 day stay lots of shows and entertainment. I met bruce crandall there along with many other Medal of Honor recipients. It was a great time. We had a open bar the whole time. it was amazing to drink and talk with such an amazing group of people.

Man, I love everyone of these videos. Vietnam shows and books is why I wanted to join the army. But this episode was a harder one to follow, it like they couldn't get in the usual flow., they kept cutting each other off, and dates. anyways I loved these stories. This is true American History. Mr Clete, this guy went threw through, came back train, joined SF, and went back to another specialized unit. These were men of men.

I read a book called “ The Dying Place” that was a fictional account of a SOG team. Written by David Maurer published in 1986. The character is Sam Walden who sounds like Sam Waltons son of Walmart fame . Who in fact was a SOG operator.

A deep dive is to read the Congressional Hearing on the problems with the M-16. See the last section where they suggested criminal prosecution of some people involved; for comparison see the scandal of the mal-functioning torpedos in WWII. How many people are on THE WALL because there weapon mal-functioned in a fire-fight. Shame; never forget, never forgive.

If Tilt wasn't here to fill in gaps and add clarification...this would have been an incomprehensible mess... I grew up with a MACV-SOG SFC when I was a little boy... his stories just scratched the surface of the insane danger he was in as a 2 1/2 tour Hatchet Force/Mike Force and CCN NCO...

Jocko needs to have a intern time stamp episodes for John especially because these casts are so full of just incredible stories you want to listen to again or expose others to while in the car or something and often have limited time frame to do so Not that I don't want to hear about the wide array of childhoods and the witty recollections of indoc boot camp and selection that these geezers always naturally story tell with but sometimes u want nay need the 20 minutes or so that really I'd the true real reason this cast exists and the reason the guest is on it And not to be negative I Mean none but sometimes the older gentlemen aren't as concise or don't maintain the same fluidity of conversation or story telling as younge men or alot of the cast is kind of hard to follow or visualize and really the key why they are on and we are listening moments are all u need or can give the rapt attention and focus into trying to listen and digest Roger Hayden was prime example great man great stories but fuck alot of it is hard to hear and decipher but the handful of sentences here and therein key stories ans moments u can get affirm everything and make it worth it And really we are blessed to have someone as sharp and aware as gregarious and engaging as tilt to do these because if it were some of the guests hosting the show it would be very difficult Although nick Brockhausen however u spell his name would make a fuck of a podcast host along as he limits the booze intake
