It's a bitter irony: he was all about using science-based approaches to dieting to improve health and wellbeing, to live longer, etc... But then he dies aged 67, seemingly because he made a crazy decision to go on a mountain hike during the hottest part of the day in a Mediterranean heatwave equipped with only 0.5 litres of water - something which defied the most basic and humble common sense...
@mum5276

@@j.burgess4459I thought exactly the same. Made me wonder what was in his thinking as he set off that day, walking in such high heat. As I’ve watched many of his programmes I’ve always thought that he seemed a kind, genuine gentle genius of a man that really cares about not only his own health but everyone else’s health too. You’re going to be sorely missed by so many. My sincere condolences to his family too,. It must have truly awful not knowing where he was. Terrible end and tragic loss, but at least he was loved by so many people and now found. I’m so very sad as we all are that he’s no longer with us😢. RIP MM. ❤

Very interesting. As muslims over and above the month of fasting, it is highly recommended we follow the example of our Prophet Mohamad(pbuh) by fasting particular days of the week for physical and spiritual benefit. These days are Mondays & Thursdays. My mother has been fasting this way for the last 20yrs. Eats nothing processed, lots of dates, seeds, plain full fat yoghurt/labne, veg, chicken, fish, red meat once a week. At 72 mum has no disease, no chronic meds and able to cook, clean for herself and walk 1-2kms a day. At 49 I feel like 80... so have started to fasting, eating as mum does and forcing myself to walk. Already mood and sleep has improved. Dr Mosley was onto something and awakening the world to what is really going on. RIP.. May your work carry on and save the lives of many.

RIP Dr. Mosley. He stayed healthy and still passed away so suddenly and quickly at the age of 67. When I am watching this video suddenly it shifts my focus at more important things .......like ....live everyday to the full like it was your last one. No amount of healthy diets , calorie counting and sugar content watching will not stop us from dying. Healthy or not what is the point? Enjoy your lives to the full without any stress whatsoever.

It wasnt a freak event . he walked in the middle of the day in temperatures exceeding 40C plus humidity. He would not have done this if he had been brought up in the desert . It takes less than 10minutes in these conditions for your core temperature to spike and then your cognition is affected . Despite this he was still found in a position that indicated he had avoided falling . But he did take the wrong path . Tragic .

I am sure like many , I cried when I found this witty beautiful man has died . I love his entertaining, informative and common sense advice for me since I was brought up in Spain in the 60’s where I had not chocolates to snack on but fresh almonds in they shell , dry figs, dry roasted chick peas instead of jelly gum etc . Lot of lentils and again chick peas casseroles with meat and vegetables, chorizo, etc diet , it was only when I came to England which I called Sweetland I started to eat more chocolates, biscuits which are found everywhere. Any way Thank you Dr Michael Mosley for 😢 helping all of us to improve our diet with your informative Tv shows and chats . You will be missed greatly . I cannot believe you are not with us anymore . He is an ex-Dr. of psychiatry. He is now a journalist and producer. He gets his info from scientific researchers, claims it as his own, and writes books to make money-his only objective. Scientist Mark Mattson created the 5:2 diet, not Mosley, Valter Longo created the intermittent fasting and prolonged fasting, Eric Berg talks about keto diet, and exercises---long before Mosley appeared. I have known about all this for a long time, because I listen to the scientists, not this phony. Watch BBC "Eat Fast and Live Longer" and you will see the real creators of this diet and healthy lifestyle.

@mikatu

Once and for all, sugar is not the enemy. Too much sugar is the real problem. Specially if that sugar is processed. Everything you eat that is ready to eat contains too much of at least one of these three ingredients: salt, fat, sugar. A lot of times you have two in the same product. If you cook at home for sure you will avoid that triangle. But sugar is not the culprit here, too much sugar is, or too much fat, or too much salt. All of those ingredients are important for you, but not in excess.
@triggtalley

Speaking about doctors knowing nothing about nutrition they also don't know a lot about the drugs they prescribe. I had a heart attack and received 2 stents. Told to exercise and lose weight. Unfortunately the meds caused fatigue and weight gain. Neither my doctor or cardiac surgeon knew Metoprolol caused weight gain and I put on 12 kilos in a year. They also disapproved of me being on the ketogenic diet and although my heart is functioning well I'm dismayed by the lack of real support I have to get healthier and it's just about pushing me to take drugs.

Can you accept he just got it wrong this time and paid the ultimate price - maybe a wrong turning - maybe an underestimation of heat - whatever he is gone but leaves a great legacy - thank you you MM - I am off to get a cold shower

In the military, we did 60/120s for PT some days. Sprint for 60 seconds, walk for 120 seconds. Really wears you out.

auttie this is according to the sunnah or tradition of our final messenger Muhammad peace be upon Him, you can learn more about fasting in Islam by googling it. You can learn more about Islam and it’s teaching by reading the Quran too. May God bless you and guide always 💕

I watched one of the saddest documentaries about diabetes in Samoa. Such a lovely culture and people being decimated by a way of eating brought across from America. One man said they are slowly losing their traditional way of fishing and growing their own produce for the cheap, unhealthy foods in the supermarket. This is happening across most of the Pacific Islands now...heartbreaking.

I was diagnosed with GDM during my pregnancy in 2019. After birth though I wasn't dieting and had a c section as baby got to 5kg in there. A year later in 2020 I had diabetes. In that year I lost 39kg and I still have 18kg to go to reach my target of 48kg. Im still diabetic tho I don't take medication for 8months now. If I have 5 grapes my glucose spikes to 15 so my pancreas is messed up. When I'm on low carb diet carbs usually coming from veg and occasional 5 single pasta in meals my glucose is 5. Huge difference but in life u do crave crisp and chocolate. Small children lunch packs are ok to have once in a while. I find that after I eat a meal I should walk for 2 mins which helps. I eat around 800-1000 calories a day.

Mosley is no longer a Dr. of psychiatry. He is a journalist and producer. He did not create the 5:2 diet. Scientist Mark Mattson created it. Mosley interviewed him and claimed it as his own, because he did not have the will power to do water only fasting ....He interviewed scientists like Valter Longo, stole their research, and claimed it as his own, writing books to make money...Keto, intermittent fasting, have been around for many years...I already walk every day and exercise, and eat healthy...I don`t need this phony to tell me how to do it. ..I read and listen to the researchers...Watch BBC "Eat ,Fast, and Live Longer" and you will see.....and look him up on wikipedia....This guy is a shyster....
