I'm with everybody who KNOWS (trusts the empirical data) the earth is a sphere...no need to constantly "preach" what is common knowledge to knowledgeable inhabitants of earth. There is nothing to prove. It has been proven. The non-believing, flat-earthers are the ones with the problem accepting empirical data. Why waste time and energy on those types.

If on ground at a stationary point its 2-3 minutes, I think it'd be 6-7 minutes on fighter jet.

one of the Concords first flights was along the path of totality for 74 minutes. those on the plane set the record for longest viewed eclipse that will likely never be broken.

Very cool especially as the sky started lightening up. I flew a small prop plane (DA-40) up to KAIA to watch it from the ground. I thought about trying to watch it from the air but figured I'd be too busy to enjoy it.

So what you;re seeing is the atmosphere in a big ring around you still glowing from the sunlight hitting it, while you're in a big round hole of shadow. A little less in-cockpit shots would have been nice, FYI.

Very cool! Wondering though, as did anyone else notice, the paint scheme on the jet was of a Chinese MIG? Is that the reason Seattle ATC was racing to catch y'all?
@justforever96
@justforever96 6 жыл бұрын
No, it's a Czech (Soviet)Aero L-39 Albatros painted up like a Russian L-39 trainer, with striped camo and red star and everything. That's probably how they bought the plane, and just kept the paint scheme because it looks badass as it is. has nothing to do with MiGs or Chinese. and standard Russian camo is use on all manner of Russian aircraft, not just MiGs. Russians don't use many MiGs these days. The Sukhoi is Russia's fighter now. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_L-39_Albatros

AGMore42 you can blame Seattle ATC for screwing a Navy mission, we joined up after, I will upload that later. I left most of the coms off this video, as the coms is mostly us and the Growlers realizing the mission is lost and them racing to catch us (thanks again ATC)

Wish you wouldn't of used the fish eyed lens though. People see that and thinks it's the real curve of the earth. Great video except for that. But alot of people saw something else below to the right of the eclipse when happened.

2:09 'something something you're clear for pictures' No pictures allowed until totality Mike?? Clearly nothing to do with the sun being too bright because there's filming right on it 30 seconds into the video. Be nice to see the footage of the moon moving into and away from totality. Thanks for the vid anihow sure you had one of if not the best view in the world

This has to be the most noble peaceful use of a fighter jet to learn about our our magnificently beautiful world where the antique dangerous adventure of nonstop world war needs to be abandoned if humanity is to go on from this crossroads of the world in a meaningful dignified utilitarian value producing path that improves conditions to reach a new higher potential possible given the vast resources and knowledge present to achieve nothing short of thriving instead of chaos, poverty, debt economics, and precarious developing geopolitical. A pursuit of knowledge, exploration, diplomacy, and bravery produces far more potential for long term value building than our wars for short term profit and oil dollar trading power status ran by crony lobbyist immoral narcissist greed at any expense including selling America completely out without a plan B other than world war to get a reset to a single system.

That's not a "fighter jet", it;s an unarmed L-39 trainer jet. Real fighters have been used for peaceful scientific research for decades, this is nothing new. Filming an eclipse from one is nothing new (and doesn't really contribute anything to science). Anyway, is there some competition to fit the most jargonistic, trendy liberal buzzwords into the smallest piece of writing that i haven't heard about? If there is, you've got a top shit at winning it outright; it must be hard to toss round more hip ideas and terms than that in such a small number of words. Also would be a strong contender in the "wishful yet unrealistic" and "laughable idealist" categories. At the moment, most of the peole in this world do not live in nations where they have the luxury to sit around thinkiing of noble ideals and goals to reshape humanity into. They are not willing to get along with others, to be tolerant. They'll gladly take some gree wealth if we're handing it out, but "re-educating" the whole worlds popualtion into a bunch of peaceful fellow liberal idealists is going to take some time. Good luck. I mean, I guess you could just do what some of your fellow-travellers are willing to do and just lok up all the people who disagree with you. Or do it the BLM/Antifa way and got the "revolution" route....although I think you'll find a lot of bloodshed and devastation down that road, where-ever it ends up taking us; revolutions alomost never end up going the direction that the people who started it want it to. uSually it ends up with mass killing and destruction and eventual dictatorship. But hey, if it's all for he sake of world peace and fairness and progress, why not?
