my BROTHA I have owned many of high gain amps in my life and i agree with you 1000 percent on the boss SD1.. i have tried them all. My bandmates would laugh at me cuz I would have a 5150 and I would use the boss sd1. That pedal is the best I won't play through anything without that pedal anytime anywhere! 🤘🤘

I wonder not that's because the SLO was designed as a " preamp first" sort of amp and sort of minimized the dependence on the power amp to get the tone that Mike was after. Not to say that the Bogner or the others purposely relied on the power section, but Mike Soldano has always said that was the underlying principle of the SLO, maybe to the benefit of the Mini in this case

Great demo, EV. I don't think you busted out the strat on the one the other day and I appreciate it as for me, I use my strats as much as I do my EMG loaded LTD, so you covered the guitars I used which was awesome scope! I just saw another demo of the mini on another channel but hearing you play through it definitely gave more insights. This little guy might be the best of the minis I've heard. Thx!

Of all the ‘Mini’ boutique amps out there, I think the Soldano and Friedman sound the best. You’re obviously not going to get the same tone when it’s $2,500 less, but it gets you in the ball park for $200 as a practice amp.

It's not for me, but I definitely understand why people would like it, it does have the soldano sound. I would like to see these little 30w heads expand and have a larger 60w head that would fit on top of a vertical 2x12 and challenge the Marshall DSL20HR

Cute! The little baby dano! It looks cute sitting on a shelf. That's about it for me. Nice noodling on this video! You really tried to make it sound good. You threw a lot of stuff at it. But in the end... it is what it is. At least it doesn't cost $3,000. The SLO-30 is just too expensive. I would still choose the EVH 50-watt Stealth for half the price, even though the build-quality is probably not as good. ( I haven't seen inside a SLO-30 to know for sure. )

Really great video, I enjoyed that! The Mini sounds really close to the SLO-30 in that core Soldano tone. The low end thump that’s missing - I wonder if you ran the fx send from the Mini in to the fx return on the SLO-30 so effectively the Mini pre-amp and the SLO-30 power amp, would that even it up a bit? Great amp for the price though.

I’m pretty sure mike Soldano was more involved with this one than the makers of the previous ones were. he said that it’s basically the slo100 circuit just without tubes and obviously a different power amp

@@slippy8813 the tone is very similar for sure, kinda confused when you compare the price with the real thing... but the circuit isn't the same at all, obviously tubes circuit doesn't use the same resistors, capacitor etc as for mosfet technology (preamp and power). It's a very good amp no doubt, but i think more of a "nowadays trend"

The amp X is quite a different beast. And the BluGuitar stuff in general. They’re 100w analog nanotube amps and to me as good, and many times even better, thank old school 100w tube amps. Stay tuned ’cos there will be some Bad (Boy) Ass news regarding the Amp X in the near future 😉💪.

No. Multi-outs from Superior Drummer to DAW without any processing and then I mix them like I mix real acoustic drums.

I think one could get creative with the Mini and switch in and out of the effects loop and inject a clean pedal into the return and use the Mini's power section. You may have to wire up your own foot switch to do that or buy one.

Mini Slo sounds very organic and nice, on other sound bit fizzy and too agressive for my taste. I wonder why you dont tailor high end and add bit low end to mimic big amp? It seems it can get to sound less fizzy and tiny bit fuller for expense of tightness with adding overdrive to tighten it for less harsh and more pleasant tone. I enjoyed your presentation.

In real life, when you're sitting there with both anps, does the 30 not sound more compressed? Something the viewer won't hear through KZfaq due to the KZfaq compression?

From what I understand, all four of these mini amps have a 100% analog, solid-state signal path with zero digital processing.

Yeah I think they are. Soldano sent me the info and the amp before it was released and I guess, for some reason, I got a wrong / mistaken etc. infosheet. But whatever it is it does the job really well 😎.

Nothing digital about the Mini SLO, or any of the other silmilar mini amps, such as the mini BE or Ecstasy. They have Class D power sections, but the D does not stand for "Digital".

Maybe Soldano is wrong then ’cos this is the info I got from them when they sent it to me several weeks ago and asked me to do the video. But I’m pretty sure that he knows his stuff better than you. Or anyone else 😉.

@@EugeValovirta230V Well, when the Friedman BE mini head came out, Dave Friedman said it's based on the BE-OD pedal circuit, slightly tweaked and paired with a Class D power section. Which is definitely analog. I can't see why the basic concept would be any different for any of the mini amp heads in the line. Production and design wise it would make zero sense to have analog preamp sections on some and more expensive digital technology for others and sell them at the same price.

Digital means "computer" chips running algorithms, programs, that try to simulate analog electronics, programmable DSP chips if you will. Class D power amp means it's analog, but the working principle is different than class AB, that can be either tube or transistor based. This mini amp is entirely analog, "solid state" as it's referred to, as it has opamps, discrete transistors, capacitors, resistors, inductors, diodes, you name it. This is not a modeling digital amp!

IF I HAVE TO PLAY TRANSISTORS I WOULD GET THE SPARK MINI... THE DEAL BREAKER FOR ME IS TRANSISTORS, CAPS ARE STUCK SORRY. NOW IF SOLDANO COULD MAKE A SMALL AFFORDABLE TO THE AVERAGE PERSON AMP...THEN I WOULD CONSIDER IT. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED A SOLDANO SLO 100 BUT THAT IS WAY OUT OF MY BUDGET ESPECIALLY NOW DAYS. I wish marshall would do a Plexi and the Big boy mini marshall has to get on board with these because the same manufacturing company did the mini bogner, Friedman, Diesel and now the soldano SLO so marshall definitely would probably blow the fucking roof off these if they got on board I'd buy both Plexi and 800!

SLO mini sounds compressed and sterile, it cant compare to the SLO 30 or 100. I had one briefly its ok as a low volume practice amp.

All these tiny amps are, are distortion/overdrive pedals with a power section included .... 🤷🏼‍♂️.... a pedal that can power a speaker cabinet that you don’t step on

It is funny to see you all on youtube saying same day exactly the same about this amp. Plus shit like "I am not paid, they just sent it to me".. I can hear much more punch from my 20W mustang 1v2 connected to 12 inch subwoofer and I had both for free and there is 10k presets to download from the net. Everybody who did not mark it as a paid promotion getting reported and "do not recommend this channel". Amen.

@@EugeValovirta230V tell me you paid for this amp from your pocket and was not sent to you by Soldano Amplification to make vid about it... BTW my modified mustang is not my preference, I just separated control panel and connected it to a sub cabinet so I can mess with knobs on my desk top having cabinet underneath my desk. Comfy practice solution when I watch guitar lessons on YT and I just said it packs more punch and has much more versatility than I hear in any of vids about this Mini Soldano. Tell me you paid for it and I do apologise, really. Getting free gear = being paid in gear = lack of honest unbiased opinion which should be marked in left top corner so we know. So,... was it free of charge, sent to you or you had to pay for it?

I never pay for any gear. I’ve done videos in the last couple of years of hundreds of amps, pedals, guitars etc. worth of several hundreds of thousands. This is my hobby and I like it but not that much. I have ok income from my real work (recording artist, songwriter, producer, mixing engineer etc.) but it’s not that good that i’d have an extra 100K to throw away every few months or so 😁😁😁. But I’ve bought a few of those amps after I’ve done videos of them like the Mesa V & Marshall 1987x. I haven’t yet decided if I’m gonna keep this one or send it back. Most likely I’ll keep it ’cos it’s pretty handy and would most likely use it as a warm up amp on tours or something.

@@EugeValovirta230V you see, if you don't pay for it just mark it as paid promotion, like honest channels do, and believe me, from many I have checked yesterday doing vids on this amp only 4 did not marked it as paid promotion, Rabea Massad, Know Your Gear, Fluff and you. If your opinion was bad would they send you another one in the future? This is called biased opinion and that is what "paid promotion" sign is for, to let us know. Nobody says it is bad, at the end of the day we know you would not agree to do video about total crap, saying it is good, just to be able to keep that crap you find useless... As you are only one who answered (and answered honestly), you get sub from me (at the same time others lost it and got blocked, bit shame but they don't need me apparently). Have a good day to you.

Thanks man! Appreciate that 🙏. Some companies have never contacted me again after I didn’t like their stuff but some, like REVV, actually sent me more stuff after my video of their D20 amp which I didn’t like at all. They were like ”hey man, really appreciate your honest opinion and we think you might like these a bit more”. I haven’t yet even opened the boxes but will do that soon and do a review of them. I kinda hope that I’d like them ’cos I really appreciate how they reacted. That tells me that they believe in their gear.
