You made the hike to the top of Scarfel Pike look so easy! I think you should win an award for the best solo camping meals I have seen on UTube. Amazing sunset as well as the awesome scenery. Oh, and bless you for showing compassion to the enormous slug. Definitely looking forward to a canoeing hike video.

It’s a pretty easy hike as the route I took did not require any scrambles. Just gotta keep moving the legs and you get there eventually 😀! Always nice to be rewarded with a beautiful sunset sky. I typically try to go to the more popular place like Snowdon or here midweek when I am less likely to see anyone else. I typically don’t even like to see anyone on the hike. Only saw a couple day hikers after I came down from the summit to setup camp. But after they left I had the place all to myself 😀! After the camp I just got back from in the Lakes, I could really use a sunset like I had on this trip. This last camp was absolutely brutal 😅.

Yeah, I’ve hiked quite a few mountains in the Rockies and Appalachian range growing up. Although they are much higher, for many you start at a much higher elevation. On my trips here in the Lake District and in Snowdonia, the elevation gain ends up being nearly the same as many of those mountain hikes back in the states because here you start at sea level. I do really enjoy that the look of this landscape though. All the contours in the landscape between the mountains are really beautiful 👍. Appreciate the comments. ATB

As always, an amazing video!!! I'd like to ask you few questions and I would be really grateful if you would find a minute to answer. I'd like to buy a Hilleberg tent. I was going to go for the Soulo one but since you've posted a videos of the Enan, I'm not so sure anymore ;) which one would you recommend? Also which one of the "cooking systems" would you recommend, the previous gas stove or the oil one? If you could tell me what inflatable mattress do you use and brand of the gas and oil stoves please. Actually the list of you all your gear would be amazing but it might be a bit too much to ask ;) Many thanks. Keep posting these great videos :)
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
The Soulo and the Enan are both great but it really depends on what you are looking for. The Enan is a really light 3 season tent that can be used year round as long as you are not expecting a lot of snow. Although it does have a lot of airflow so in the winter it is a bit colder inside. If you are camping in the winter often or potentially really windy conditions, the Soulo is the tent you want. Its incredibly sturdy and freestanding however it is about twice the weight of the Enan. It’s a bit overkill for most people. Hilleberg also makes quite a few other tents so it might be worth just requesting a free catalog and looking at their other tents as well. It’s also a really nice catalog 😃. The jetboil which uses gas is great however you have to purchase the pan separate. The trangia 27 uses alcohol and comes with two bowls, a frypan and a kettle. I call it my little kitchen. Honestly it really boils down to what you prefer. The jetboil is faster and more like cooking on a stove at home but I have always preferred alcohol burners and how silent they are. But you have to be extremely careful with an alcohol stove because if you knock it over while in use you can start a fire. As for the mattress, I use a regular wide Nemo Tensor Insulated sleeping pad. It’s been amazing. Easily my favorite sleeping pad. Some people have experienced air leaks with theirs but I have had mine for years and have never had any issues. Hopefully I covered all your questions! Thanks again for watching my videos. Have a great weekend!

👍 yeah the vestibule on my Enan feels much larger than the Soulo! Even though the Soulo has a slightly larger sleeping space I really don’t notice too much of a difference in the actual footprint of the sleeping area. Where you can feel the difference however is in the headroom as the Enan tapers. I’m typically sitting in the middle of the tent though so I don’t mind. @@GoingSoloOutdoors I liked the quality of the videos..the editing is good too.. that's why i thought to comment. Any good content will help your channel.. short or long. You could also take a peep at those few channels that I mentioned, take their good qualities that you see for inspiration. Some channels (I think too many) are only looking at budget, budget and budget.. put affiliate links in to sell stuff to maximise an income. I prefer the authentic approach, which you have also taken; it resonates more. Quality gear.. quality outdoors experience seen through your eyes. You coukd add your thoughts on the environment that you're filming in.. a philosophical touch.. because we all contemplate when outdoors. I'm every day in the Vienna Woods with my dog..

😂 Compared to the fourteeners I’ve hiked in The Rocky Mountains of Colorado, yeah they can feel more like hills, but I respect them enough to use the formal geologists definition of a mountain 😀. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
