The Idaho Hillbilly sent me to your channel .I'm in Alberta Canada. Have spent a lot of time in our mountains, hunting wild horses and grizzlies with a camera,, fishing when I needed to eat. 72 yrs. Young now. Still try to get out. Thanks for sharing. This is 1st of your vids. Probably the latest so will keep tuned for others. Nothing like starting backwards.Dan

Really enjoy your videos. Your spirit is grand my friend! I just bought a $980 external frame backpack. Can't say I've ever road a horse. I've looked into pack goats a bit. I'd want to train one up slowly to get really strong. I threw 50 pounds in the external frame pack and did 1.5 miles on foot rested 2 days then another 1.7. The goal is 100 pounds 10 miles a day. If I had a pack goats he could take half that weight for me perhaps. In the future when I've got all my equipment I'm looking for someone who is down to do a 30 day survival trip. I'm gonna be packing a Diana 48 .22 pellet gun and a small fishing net and collapsible pole for game. I need to learn the edibles. I figured 50 pounds of that 100 pounds will be dried food for the first run try to hunt as much as possible small game. Then attempt a second run all foraging and hunting when confident with skill set. Posting this comment 3 xs I hope you see it. 👍 If you'd ever consider a 30 day challenge let me know old soul.

Your were discussing fishing with bait or lures and which is better. I use both plus Flys on modern gear. If I catch something it's usually on a fly and like you I'm way out in the forest!. My next step is to try a hobo fishing kit. It's pretty simple and makes keeping the line tidy. Love the cotton wood bobber. Do you need a bobber with a Rooster tail? I also want to try and get some nymphs right out to the river and cover them on my lure and or fly. Great video!

@@OverOnTheWildSide indeed, the time before bikes were a thing, animals in particular horses as transport were the thing what nowadays people call bikepacking, or backpacking, i think it's truly a unique relationship, no matter how well you know you bike or gear, no matter how high tech or ultralight the gadgets you've got, it must be pretty spectacular, despite one may not know the horse like a vet would, but that relationship is beyond mechanical!

When I hear patron I think of people just wanting free money. You are already getting paid for your videos. How do you justify people giving you money on patron? I guess I don't understand what it's for.
@OverOnTheWildSide
@OverOnTheWildSide Жыл бұрын
It’s a long answer but first off, I put the most limited amount of ads I can and KZfaq pays me about $1/month off of them. Making videos takes a lot of time. Also it depends on your perspective of money, I like to use it to support things I believe in. When I was a realtor my standard was $100 when people would post something they needed money for. For instance I contributed to some local artists moving to Vegas. I also don’t want people to give who are living paycheck to paycheck. It’s for people who make enough money to have some left over for something like $3 or $5 each month towards something they want to see continue. The most important thing is that it’s free to watch on KZfaq with minimal ads. I need to make a video about this, I did once before but I took it down.
@3dentertainment301
@3dentertainment301 Жыл бұрын
@@OverOnTheWildSide wow ok, now that makes sense. Definitely not what I thought it was. I really wasn't sure what the hell it was though. This is the first video I seen of yours & I instantly subscribed. The other thing is, I seen you comment about living a off grid lifestyle. That will bite you in the ass really hard when you are retirement age (unless you're inherently rich) have to pay in to receive social security.
@OverOnTheWildSide
