What’s up y’all, this is part 1 of my son and I looking for adventure out in our red jeep tj. The plan is to eventually find a nice camp spot to rest. That’s when we ran into our first problem! See how we got out and learn from us. It’s a wild storm out there and we are just in it! Be safe y’all 🍻

Yeah I'd be pretty pissed about the winch. Clearly a pretty new and good looking unit like that, you wouldn't expect it to be faulty like that. I've re-wired my winch set-up so the relay box is under the hood and easily accessible but more importantly dry. I really like your videos, partly because your red TJ is a nearly identical to mine.

Sorry about your winch, I always used to buy less expensive winches, now I always go with Warn winches (not the cheap VR series) after having had some failures with other brands when I was in the back country. I have never had an issue yet with Warn M8000 on my 2019 JL Rubicon so here to hoping that continues.

Great video, things don't always work the way we like, but great to see a dad out there doing the wise thing in keeping himself and more importantly his son safe.

Good video and smart move to turn back. I hope you’ll consider picking up a tree saver if you don’t already have one. It appeared that you didn’t in this video.

I know I took the cable up there forgetting the tree savor, I always use one, but then I couldn’t even get the winch going. Thanks for watching 🍻

That crossing has gotten alot harder over the years. All these newer jeeps running 37s+ digging it out
@ATEMOFFROAD
@ATEMOFFROAD Жыл бұрын
It has…the larger hole to the right mid way up has gotten deeper and deeper every time I go up. And recently someone has moved the rocks and wood out of there there that helped that part of the crossing. I guess some people like a bit more of a challenge. 👍🏼 Thanks for watching 🍻

Looks like Sourgrass Trail to me, if so that creek crossing can be a tough spot. This could have been much worse if an axel had broken. Never go alone especially in bad weather, camping over night when the weather can turn on you is no fun.

Absolutely, very dangerous and why we turnaround. I was just there in my green jeep and crossed no problem this time the conditions have Changed, but someone took out all the rocks in the large hole on the right side that were stacked there. So I should have crossed no problem but my tires could clear or grip! Next time I will try lowering my air pressure a bit more too! 🍻

New to your site. Wondering what type of steering setup have you got on the red TJ? Thanks
@ATEMOFFROAD

Welcome to the channel, that is the trail forge crossover steer setup. I love it and it’s simple to install and takes all the headache out of front alignment. Just did this on my Jeep Cherokee XJ it’s in the lift kits install video on the Cherokee same as the wrangler. cross over steering and alignment. 🍻

Just found your channel and WOW I like your style. I just started jeepNdirt and focusing on exploring / overland / crawling style riding in my built JLUR, but I have a 95 YJ and a 98 TJ (Dads) that I'm working on for him. I lived in CA for a few years and really miss that type of environment for wheeling. Great stuff man, I'm subscribed.

Totally understand having the kid and solo , but I have a Spartan locker in my Dana 35 in my Xj and abuse the crap out of it , it's not as weak as people think lol 15k daily driver miles and a few thousand on the trail

My 35 sprang a leak at the pinion so my plan is to eventually Replace it, just saving up for all the parts to build up. Funny thing is it recently stopped leaking and there is oil in it ha. So I may put a locker in it until it totally grenades. Thanks for watching 🍻

Yep , just when I needed the winch the most haha, next time a quick in out check on the winch will be worth it. Sometimes we get tied up in packing and planning the trips and sometimes overlook little things like this. We did find a spot and that is coming in part two! Thanks for watching 🍻

I have that exact combo and wheeled my jeep for 15 yrs. I've run the Rubicon, John Bull etc and have never had a problem. Go easy with the throttle and never bounce it! Better to stall the jeep and stack if you need to.

Absolutely and thank you! I’m not ashamed to avoid danger. And there is a lesson to be learned here. Some day I will get back there and try again. The x bull winch is a decent budget winch, I will replace the coil with quality components and should make a difference. Thanks for watching 🍻
