This episode means very much to me due to the fact that I am White Mountain Apache and Geronimo is related to my family line. You’ve hit some real truths and I appreciate it. The Fort Apache Reservation Fort houses 5 Apache Clans on 1.6 million acres the biggest reservation in the country. The area where you are is very sacred and special.

Overlaying Native American history on overlanding is brilliant. Very well done. Native history is criminally under told, so I look forward to more stories. Come East and do the Cherokee.

Back in the 1960's I grew up in what my elders called the crossroads of the Northern nations. Dakota, Lakota, Crow, Cheyenne and many more northern tribes. As a kid I had open rein exploring out on the prairies. The only rule was leave it where you found it. And to reinforce it I was told of bad omens if I didn't. Arrowheads, lances, teepee rings and buffalo bones at the foot of buffalo runs were common finds. Beads were big no no's. Ant's would unearth them and scatter them about. These sights were thought to be gravesites and were to be left alone. Sadly these places and things do not exist anymore. So now it's through storytellers like you that folks will learn of our sometime chaotic history. You have a great start ... tell the story.

History is of great importance. If we learn from the mistakes of our past, we won't be doomed to make the same ones in the future. Overlanding is a gift. Being able to see, smell, touch, and experience these fantastic places is only for the lucky ones. Others sadly will never experience these places. Keep up the good work 👍.

Well done, great history and beautiful scenery, enjoyed it. We used to go in at Saint David and cross 11 miles of Desert to the west stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains. There used to be an old adobe stage station prior to entering the west strong hold with a plaque embedded in some concrete with the stage station schedules, someone stole the plaque, All that remains now is a pile of Adobe ruin and the concrete where plaque was shaped like the State of Arizona. That was 44 years ago. That’s not to be Confused with the stage station in the dragon’s near I-10. I’m glad I took pictures back then.

The history lesson is a great addition, spot on from what I recall. 5th generation Arizonan. Recall living here when air and conditioning where not used together. Have hiked the Islands In The Sky. good walks, amazing what I can go through in a few hours. as a friend once said... Arizona, Where temperature is just a Destination. Travel safe, fuel up often.

My wife and I moved to Cochise county November 2019 for decent all year weather. The longer we're here, and the more we learn about the history, the more we love it here. I drove Jeeps for over 20 years before moving here, and haven't had one for about the last 10 years. Well, after living here for a year, I realized I needed to get back into a Jeep. I've explored a lot of the area since and have gotten to know Las Cienegas NCA and the Santa Rita OHV area pretty well. My wife and I have visited the Strong hold and driven to the top of the Chiricahua's. I found you're video and it was very inspiring. I've explored the west side of the Dragoon's just north of the Border Patrol check point on hwy 80. Now I need to check out your route up to the China camp area. I'm very happy to have found your video. Thanks

When im out in the sticks with my pup, i bring music, my small grill and some targets. Otherwise I am just playing with my equipment, trying to make my arrangements more efficient. Great video. My Great Great Grandmother and Grandfather are buried at Desert Rest Cemetery in Bowie. I spent many summers running, gunning and camping in those mountains and desert. I love that area from Tucson, Texas Canyon to Willcox and Bowie. So much so I bought some land of off Ft Grant Road in Willcox to retire at. Thanks again for the video.

Great video and really enjoy the history lesson. When i solo camp ( typically on a hunting trip) I like to just sit and gaze through a spotting scope or bino's . Watching wildlife life this and spotting far off destinations really passes the time. Oh, and keeping my eyes on the ground looking for arrowheads

I am an older feller. I am in Tanque Verde and my fun is doing just what you are doing. I would love to travel the roads around Tombstone. Sometimes can you drop a hint as to how to access these roads? I dont use electronic maps, I rely on compass and paper maps. I wish I could use electronic maps but would need training. In any event, thanks for the tour. I do mine with a 2010 Toyota Sequoia with 313,000 miles..... I also love the content. I dont subscribe to anything, but I will be a follower from now on. Your Apache history spoken @ Ft. Bowie is wrong. Ever met any Apaches descended from Cochise? I have. General Crook never met or saw Cochise. Mangas Coloradas was dead by treachery long before General Howard met w/ Cochise & formed the Chiricahua Reservation that was never ratified by congress. Cochise never lived @ San Carlos. After Cochise death the Chiricahua rez was disbanded & his sons & others tried life @ the hole called San Carlos but were treated badly & the war went on. Geronimo surrendered to gen, Miles in 1886 & in typical backstabbing fashion Miles sent the Apache Scouts away as prisoners of war although the were US soldiers who helped arrange the surrender. Geronimo & the Chiricahuas lived as prisoners of war for 27 years... including the children born as prisoners (illegal as can be).

Loved it! Thank you again for doing this. I truly hope this does take off. It is more than worth the time to watch. I am 54, born and raised in Arizona also. My early childhood was in Payson, then my fondest memories growing up in Cochise County. I consider Sierra Vista my hometown, but grew up exploring all over the county. I think of the Huachucas as "my mountains" every time I visit, and I cut fire breaks in those brutally rocky canyons as a boy scout. I really appreciate your videos more than I can say. Bless you.
